Hi all

I have done a search but cannot find anything. Today a installed a Nardi Torino steering wheel (thanks to Mike) and now the SRS warning light on the instrument panel stays on all the time.
I have checked all connections three times now and all appears OK

Can anyone help or do I have to take the car to a dealer?

you turned the ign on with the airbag disconected didnt you?
basicaly the system detected no airbag, and threw a fault code, there is no way to reset it without a MUTT-II device. some mechanics and/or auto electricians will have one, so you dont need to go to a dealer.
this is unlike the ABS system which can self reset

Most auto electricians will be able to do it, some mechanics too, basically as mentioned above it wont disappear unless its reset via computer.

thanks. Yes I did turn the ignition on without the airbag module plugged in. I wanted to test the alignment before I put it all back together. Found out the car wont even start without this plugged in anyway. Oh well; just called my mechanic and he has a scan tool. Its not a MUT-II, its a Snap On so will that clear it?? He said he paid about 4k for it so it must be OK??

Only if it has the correct software loaded to be able to read and write data to the ecu/bem.

For the record, your car does a check of the srs system on startup which is why the srs light comes on in the dash, by not having the airbag plugged in you effectively told the system that there was no communication between it and the airbag and it logged a code.

This is why before taking off the steering wheel you line the wheels up straight and mark the splines so you know where the centre point is.

Your mits dealership should also be able to clear the code for you.

Car will start fine with no bag if a J onwards will beep and flash the security light but will run

Because has been started with no bag, you need to reset the srs comp, you can get most ones like the snap on to do this as most come wiht everythign needed
