I've got an idea on how to remove the spring/shock from the car. Then you need to put on the spring compressors, but how do you remove the top bolt without an airgun? Is it possible?

I think you crack the bolt while its still in the car, 1/4 of a turn with a socket and a long breaker bar should do it, then remove the strut. Don't undo it all the way untill the springs are compressed and secure. I've never actually taken springs off yet though.

as above, and you will also see ,that the top of the shock has an allen key head on it ,so ,you can put a big enough alllen key in there to stop the shaft from turning and use a ring spanner to loosen it,same applies if you find the shaft turning when the car is on the ground,Allen key, ring spanner...REMEMBER...you are only loosening it off a couple of turns....

the USE THE SPRING COMPRESSES

Are you trying to do this yourself? Have you done this before?
If you want help, bring the car down to the SA AMC group for assistance.

Thanks for all the help guys, really cleared it up a lot for me. My dad's changed the springs on his cars a couple of decades ago a few times, so I'll get him to help out.

Haha yeah, it's too hard to get up there with work and everything anyway, thanks for the offer though.
