So i went down to jaycar today and bought brand new CCFL tubes for my boot. we have taken off the part that connects it to a computer.. (The clip and wire) so we have the wires from the switch and from the little black box that 3 clips go into (2 in one side 1 in the other) then wires go straight into the light. We hooked the wires up to the power source in the boot and they didnt turn on. We thought it might of been a dodgy connection so we tried it on the battery.. Still no joy.. anyone know what im doing wrong or could they just be faulty

when i did my ccfl tubes i didn't cut away anything. i had them in the doors to light up when they open (light up the ground that is) just connected the 2 wires to the light source wires that were there. put up pics of what you cut

Told you not to go CCFL mate but alright. I work at jaycar and happen to know a big percentage of the CCFL tubes are faulty. Im guessing they are the RAVE ones?
As long as you got the polarity right when you first hooked it up you should of been okay. Otherwise possibly blown a fuse inside the box? Either that or take it back and get another one. Get them to test it for you before you leave

Okay, all we have taken off is the 2 clips that connect to the computer part (we cut them off because we arent using them for computer
Im uploading a picture of the whole switch side of things now.

As long as they were hooked up they should work. Either check for a fuse inside the box or throw them out. .

OK so first things first, i didn't use the switch.
You need to run the CCFL wires into that black inverter (they should clip into it via 2 clips) this will then in turn come out the other end with just 2 wires, a pos and a neg. All that is then left is to run those two wires into the factory molex plug.
If that doesnt work they are faulty.

OK so i got some pics. You only use the 2 CCFL tubes, and the connector that comes out of the other end of the inverter with 2 wires. So you can discard the molex plugs and the switch.

Ok if it doesn't work keep the inverter connected and place the pos lead on the pos batt terminal and the neg lead on the neg batt terminal, if it doesn't work they are cooked.

Yeah we tried that today aswell, but that didnt seem to work, but that may of been because the switch was hooked up to it?

If you want. Just make sure you get them to test it first!

Yes your right it is stupid, unfortunately these things happen.
As MR SPL has stated, before you walk out the door as them to hook it up to one of their tiny 12v batteries.
