Hey guys. When I had my electrical work done today and I collected my car, it was flashing "S" on the trip computer. I presume S is for sedan as the other choice was W for wagon I believe. Next I chose 3.5 as well. When I drove the car it was spiking the revs on the gear changes but this promptly went away after 3 or so minutes of driving. Anyway car drives and feels the same although my economy has improved. I drove to Marion and is showing 10.9!!!!! Has something occurred here? Is what happened considered a reset or is that a entirely different process of resetting the ecu? Although my avg speed was now45 km given little traffic.

So then my question is by did the ecu reset fOr simply connecting an interior light?

Yep, as soon as the battery is disconnected for more than a few minutes the ECU will reset.

Ah cool thanks for explaining that. So apart from pressing those few buttons is there anything else I need to do or know?

YES! Drive the thing! The average fuel consumption will level out to what it normally is when you put on some more km.

Yep I did drive it, went to Marion and back so was a good hour and a bit drive. Seems all good to me. I noticed it also takes that vey slight bit longer to go from nuetral to drive. But it also seem to be getting better. What a pain in the ass these resets are hey.

Hey guys, I've noticed that when the car is cold, it takes that one second to go into gear. This is not an issue when the car is warm, but it only started when the ECU was reset. I'll have my trans guy look at it when it gets its service but I think its fine. Anyone else have an issue with gears. All other gears shift and run fine, this is purely when its cold and not warmed up.
I have the 5 speed. I tested my wifes car with 155,000 km's on it and its a 4 speed and goes in and out of gear quicker than mine on rock cold?

If the ECU reset it may have to relearn the gears again.
There is a guide floating around somewhere that tells you exactly how to do it but I don't know where to find it.
Search something like "relearn gears ECU reset" and it might pop up in those threads.

I think this is the link you're looking for: (its to do with relearning the gears) have a read at my post there which is linked to a post by Life!

F4 transmission is the 4 speed I think?
It will continue to sort itself out over the next few weeks either way.

If you have an aftermarket alarm it is perfectly normal. Shows the backup battery system in the siren is working. You cant just cut the cable to the siren then
