I FINALLY have saved up to be able to lower my car. tomorrow i will be ringing some places to get a quote to have these supplied and fitted: kings superlows rear, kings low fronts and monroe gt gas in just the front (i had these installed in the rear not too long ago).

Just to give me some sort of idea, what sort of price should i be chasing? $500, $600?

you mean superlows front and lows rear - cos they don't make any superlows for rear anymore

Goodyear quoted $760 for all that including modifying the bump stops as he reckons superlows wont go on the front unless this is done. wtf? is he trippin or have others had to do this? I would think not, seeing as there are tons of magnas on here with superlows on the front

Don't "modify" or shorten the bumpstops; they are there for a reason and that is to save your dampers from bottoming out and self-destructing. If you haven't got enough suspension travel after fitting superlows then your springs are obviously too low.

I got King Lows lowered my car bout 1 inch all around payed $350 installed.
if that helps at all, its plety low for a vrx as bodykit still sometimes scrapes driveways if u not careful.

Goto a proper suspension place bud, not some tyre shop.

Should cost you at most 600.

You won't have to modify your bump stops (this is illegal anyway) with superlows at the front or lows at the rear.

I was driving around with them in my TE for well over a year without a hitch. My VRX is about to get the same treatment.

yeh i thought it was weird when the guy at goodyear said "that includes modifying your bump stops to make the superlows fit"

what shocks did u have in the TE blake?

got a quote from another place where my brother knows the guy who works there but still $670.

I think i will have better results by going to a proper suspension place, thanks for the suggestion Bain :)

But whatever happens, this time next week my magna will finally not look embarrassingly high!

Thank youi Mr Bain - my first call to a proper suspension place gave me a price of $580 fitted.
This does not include wheel allignment though. Question - Should a front wheel allignment be enough, or should i get a front and rear allignment ($55)?

Get them both done, even if just for piece of mind. $55 is a small price to pay for a couple thousand kms worth of tyre wear.

I do all my wheel alingment.. and its so worth checking out..
makes your car drive in a strait line and also IMproves fuel econnemy not to mention tyre ware...
:D also can make your car get to speed quicker.. verry small but still it all adds up..
:), couple peices of wood some string and tools is all you need and your set..
Ohh yeah and the know how. :)

Got it all done today and paid $620 including front and rear wheel allignment :D

Thanks go to Paul from Redcliffe Spring and Suspension. I recommend them to Queenslanders. Gave me and good price and sold me no bullsh!t, and was friendly and efficient.

Handles 200% better, i hardly notice a harsher ride quality at all, and it finally doesnt look like a 4WD. Also finished my door trims but its hard to see. My tiny little camera takes crap pics (would have been better if i was 30 mins earlier and had sunset in the background) but it will have to do for now.

I was truly amazed at how the cars handling changes, after lowering.

The only problem with lowering the car is every other car seems 'taller', i mean your actually sitting 30-40mm 'lower' and now as cars pull up beside you, it really feels low :):) (not that its a real problem ;) lol )

thats one thing that really shocked me. How noticably lower it is even when just getting into the car and sitting in it. Also how much easier it was for me to wash the top of the car now lol

Hey guys just checking in to see if you have had any probs in regards to the front end bottoming out on some harsh bumps. See i had almost six year old pedders sports gas and struts in the car and it started to bottom out. So in went the king springs ( lows rear, superlows front end) along with some rather nice but expensive KYB struts. Now i still find that on some harsh bumps that the car is still bottoming out. Is this due to the superlows??
Anyone got ideas or the same problems let me know .....your help would be much appreciated.
Cheers Adam :flame:

Bottoming out is caused by a few things:

- Ride height too low (insufficient suspension travel)
- Spring rate too low (suspension compresses too easily)
- Dampers worn/incorrect rating (suspension compreses too quickly/too slowly)
- Driving speed too fast ;)

Factory suspension is usually quite good in terms of matching the first 3 items, but unfortunately the design brief is for the usual Joe Bloggs and so doesn't suit us. Problem is that when you start mixing springs, dampers, etc without knowing what you're doing you can end up with a low, firm, but very bad ride.
