Hi everyone,

My dad has a TL and he knocked his side mirror off, damaging where it connects to the car. Anyway, he bought a new one from Mitsubishi which comes in white, but as his car is silver he wants to take the silver exterior off and put it on the replacement mirror so it is colour-coded to the car.

We've had a play around but can't seem to find how to remove just the colour-coded part, maybe it needs a bit of force but we don't want to damage it. Does anybody know how to remove it smoothly?

Thanks
Luke.

If you are trying to take ALL interior bits like all the electronics, you can't, it's possibale but a 90% chance you'll break the small clips behind,

Yeah, had the same issue and tried to pull the old one apart. They're glued and pretty much impossible to pull apart without breaking. Out of interest, how much was the new one? I got quoted $480 for a Verada (chromatic) unpainted one.

It cannot be done, the interior that houses the motor is glued in place. And if you did happen to pull it apart, you would risk breaking it. The only part that is serviceable and replaceable is the mirror plate itself.

By the looks of things it seems to be a whole complete unit
Best thing to do is grab your paint code and go down to a panel shop so they can paint the mirror for you which might cost between 50-100 bucks for it
Another thing is to take the white one back and see if mits-fix has a silver mirror with the same paint code, or check the for sale thread as I think someones selling a complete pair

Hey Alan how you doing these days?? It's been ages!

Well it sounds like quite a hassle to get this mirror changed colours, I'll let my dad know and see what he wants to do. I don't think he minds one mirror being white too much but I keep picking on it haha. I did suggest he just gets it painted, I'll see what he says! Thanks heaps for the replies!

Would you happen a have a driver's side mirror in white (without glass is fine)?

If he doesn't I am trying to get rid of a pair of them in silver.
