I have no reverse lights on my manual TN Elite Wagon.
I have replaced the bulbs (which by the way looked OK).
I used a test lamp to check for power to the light with a meter with the car in reverse and nothing. Checked the linkages at the gear lever to cable and at the gear box and have not sighted any wires switch??
Any suggestions where and what I have missed?

i would check the earth in the tail gate as they tend to get rustted, ,

look for the reverse light switch
on the outer housing of the gearbox
has to have two wires
it has a hex nut to undo

The earth wire your suggesting must be the main earth as the earth to the lights are OK, some oxidation around the lamp holder which I have cleaned with a wire brush.
The gearbox switch-on the outer housing, which is what I have thought must be the source of the problem is what I am having difficulty locating. I assumed it would be located at the top where the cables attach. III check again.

the switch is on to top og the gear box on the front left hand side. wires split from the loom that supply's the starter motor and oil pressure gauge. from memory they are red/white and red/blue in color. test power to these first then short them out with a paper clip in the connector then turn ignition to on position and see if thy illuminate. if they do then the problem is the switch. if they dont ide check fuse and the wires them self for continuity. especially the one to the lights.
hope this helps. if neded ill take a pic of the switch and wiring connector if needed.
regards jay .
p.s. mine is a tp so may be different switch location possibly.....
