Hi All,

having a bit of an issue with the beast.

When sitting idle at a set of lights with my headlights on, if i have anything else running ( stereo, aircon ) my headlights dim, the stereo crackles and the rev's drop as if the car is about to stall...if i bump up the rev's the lights brighten back up until the car is idling, then it happens again...lights dim and rev's drop..

Now this isnt a new issue, it's been doing it for years, i've just been to lazy to worry about it.

Could this be an altinator problem ? if so then shouldnt it have died already...
Could my stocko battery be struggling to keep up with the power output of headlights, aircon and 2 giant amps ?

Im perplexed.

Any help appreciated on this issue !

Cheers

Nath

Sounds like you need a new battery and alternator. But in saying that disconnect the amps and measure the voltages it should be around 14v. If it is then your alternator fine. But running large audio system need a decent battery :)

It's odd, my car was doing it this morning, and none of my stereo is powered, the whole lot is d/c from the battery....

Done the big 3 yet?
Try that and see if it helps, if not.

I had exactly the same problem, replaced battery and still happened. Took it to my mechanic and all it needed was a reco for the alternator (the brushes were worn out or something) and it has been great ever since.
