Gday,
First, I'm only a fledgling mechanic so please don't reply without expanding your acronyms for the newbie!
I have a '92 TR 2.6L Carby Magna Swagon:
question is, are the carbys on manuals absolutely identical to those on autos?
I have a '92 TR 2.6L Carby Magna Swagon. It runs rough and when you put you foot to the floor you don't get the usual power response, in fact if you are on a steep hill you can get some shudders then lose power and have to gear down to get revs back. Fuel pump is fine, leads are new, dizzie rotor looks ok. My timing chain will need doing as it has a bit of a rattle. The head gasket has a leak I can tell because the hose feeding water from the radiator to the engine is flexing when you rev. I know these two last problems are fairly serious but I'm guessing they aren't actually responsible for the lack of engine response on full throttle or the losing power on steep hills with foot to the floor..
I'm suspicious of the little UFO shaped vacuum container under the carby to the left. I want to grab one from the wreckers (probably have to buy whole carby) question is, are the carbys on manuals identical to those on autos? I'm told the vacuum setup could be different? It's hard to find a manual 2.6L carby TR so I need to know if I'm safe ripping one of an auto..
Also, was wondering, workshop manuals are the comprehensive reference for your car and service manuals are sort of half as much info is that right??
Thanks in advance for your help car doctors/wizards!!
Please advise!
