when driving on the freeway my TE has a bad vibration throughout the car. It only happens at about 2700rmp when going around 110km/h. If im driving at 100 and its revving below 2500 its fine, can notice any vibration or shudder at all.
Ive looked on the other messages and people have said things like cvs and wheel alignment. The cvs look fine, however the car was sitting for a year with a blown engine before i got it.
The only other thing, and i dont know if its related is, when i changed the engine, i changed the torque convertor as one came bolted on the engine. after i put the new torque convertor on, put the new engine in, i had a bit of trouble aligning the torque convertor and engine. What was happening is when i turned the engine over by hand, i could hear what sounded like the torque convertor rubbing on something. It only happened when i tightened all 4 bolts. when i only tightened 3 it was fine. I finally manage to rotate the torque convertor to a spot where i could tighten all the 4 bolts and turn it over and there was no rubbing noise.
so, anyone got any ideas on vibration? ive heard that shudda-fix works well for some issues, but i would like to know the cause is.

Sounds to me like you have damaged your torque converter or oil pump in the trans or both for that matter when you installed
You should be able to install the torque converter at any of the 4 positions that allow bolt up and have no rubbing
You will need to investigate this before you start looking elsewhere, start with a properly installed torque converter, not one that has been left bolted to an engine when removed as this will also damage the torque converter if not removed squarely
Shudder fix will nto help here at all

I'm proberly wrong here as it does sound like your torque converter, but my KR Verada done a simillar thing, I worked out it was the drivers side drive shaft, not the CV end but the tripod joint end was worn out causing the car to vibrate bad at 110 k's an hour

Thanks for the responses ive done 11,000kms on it since the engine install and there hasnt been any problems with trans or noise from the torque convertor. its just a vibration at 110km/h. ive got a spare torque convertor here so i might change it over later down the track, the problem hasnt got any worse eitehr, its just purely at 110km/h.
I was thinking it might be the cvs got stiff and worn by sitting for so long when the car was not being used. Anyone else had similar with their cvs?

I also had the drivers side shaft (inner joint) cause me vibration when on freeway and under load (eg climbing a hill).
Easy swap on the drivers side, don't even need to drain the trans.

same problem i had with my 2001 executive, when rpm goes up and when doing hills and so forth. to eliminate this vibration we had to raised the car back with the original spring car was drop tooo low and that destroyed the cvshaft so will have to replace them soon has for the vibration 90% of it is gone.

I was told the drivers side was stuffed but the other side was perfect. Due to my budget I got one side done only.
it was approx $300 in Gosford

Apart from the suggestions listed here, There is nother elimination method you could try.
My logic is, because your car has been parked for 1 year, the tyres would have gone a bit flat and developed a flat spot. Balancing them will not help as the issues MIGHT be with the tyres. Do you have another car you can swap tyres with and try again? This is offcourse if it was vibrating from day 1 of the engine install. If it has just developed, scratch this plan.

yep vibrating from day 1 of install and i obviously hadnt driven it before. didnt get worse, didnt get better, only happened at 110km/h. Good thinking with the tyres, but i put the wheels on from another magna so i had already eliminated that.
Problem is solved now. It was the drivers cv as many of you suggested. went to pick a part and got one that looked like it had been replaced or reconditioned very recently. $35, half an hour to put it in, and problem it totally gone.
Thanks guys for your help. My old shaft looked fine, so it must have been caused from sitting for so long and stressed the inner join. No mess with the trans fluid either on the drivers side which is nice!
