In removing and replacing the headlight stalk on my '03 Magna, I now find the high beams won't stay on (the switch is not activating as it should)! Obviously I've not restored something to its proper position - any thoughts on how I fix this?

Did you fit a 2nd hand stalk or remove, disassemble/reassemble, & replace the same stalk?

Same stalk refitted - and no problems prior to removing.

I'm looking at a spare assembly from a TW ES. It has 2 screws which hold the assembly in position, 3 screws in the top cover which gives access to the internal switchgear plus the rear cover housing the plug in sockets which clips into position. If the switchgear/internals haven't been disturbed then check the following:
the 3 wire (red,yellow, black) cable isn't somehow caught under the black plastic retaining cover;
the 3 wire (red,yellow, black)socket connection adjacent to the lower retaining screw doesn't have any broken wires / pins / is plugged in correctly;
the 3 x plugs in the back of the switch assembly are plugged in correctly / are not damaged.

Cheers

Thanks MagnaDiver. It's not a wiring issue, have checked & double checked. Seems to be a mechanical issue with the switch - pulling it back high beam comes on but doesn't stay on as it should. Funnily enough, the other stalk that I have is also displaying this issue too. There must be something I'm missing here... esp since my original stalk was working perfectly before.

So correct operation should be as follows:
With no headlights on - holding/pulling the stalk back towards you turns on the high beam which then turn off when the stalk is released
With headlights on holding/pulling the stalk back towards you turns on the high beam which then stays on when the stalk is released

Thanks - yes, this is what the issue was. I was testing the high beams w/out headlights on (don't ask why). So all working fine, apparently there wasn't a prob to begin with lol.
