Just wondering if anyone can help me figure out what size and type of globes are in the a/c part of the dash and the analog clock?

My guess is T3/T4 Neo Wedge or something.

The reason i ask is im in the process of removing every halogen bulb from my tr, and replacing em with led's  and the a/c and clock is all thats left.

Also, does anyone know if/how you can change the bulbs in the dash buttons/switches? (eg. Tranny mode, hazard and demister buttons/switches)

Thanks

The light behind the a/c heater controls is a t5 wedge, there is only one of them, and it is a BITCH to get at but worth the effort to change to LED

The ones in the clock are t5 neo wedge and there are two of them. (if it is a verada clock)

the lights in the a/c demist switches are only replaceable if you pull the swith to pieces and solder a new bit in a lot of effort.

I have a manual so I don't know about the tranny mode switches sorry.

If you are doing all of them you'll need:

4 x T10 LED's for the instrument panel
3 x T5 LED's (2 for the instrument panel top area) 1 for heater controls
2 x T5 Neo Wedge LEDS for the verada clock.

I changed all of mine worked a treat, but order some spares if you are getting them off ebay, they don't last very long, you'll be changing one at least every three months.

thanks corndog, i've already changed the instrument cluster, and bought some led's for the top panel, but decided i liked it better without them (stands out more in the dark)

as for the heater controls, i managed to pull out one globe that was in the middle (a t5) but the whole thing was lit up still? mines an se so don't know if that makes a difference.

and ill get straight on the neo wedges, and make that clock white!

If you are going to do those lights in LEDs, would you mind snapping some pics of the process for getting to them?
I have just done the dash of my TS with white jaycar 4LED T10s and it looks awesome (They were very directional with bad hotspots but I managed to work around it by sanding them down). While I had the screwdriver out doing the dash I had a quick go at getting to the AC ones but didn't go too far so some indication of what I would be dealing with would be nice.

Is yours an automatic? Have you done the light under the shifter too? If so how did it come up? Seemed like the bulb location wouldn't be ideal for even light from LEDs.

Thanks

hey pretzil,

i will take some pikkies as im doing it, but pretty much what i did to get to the a/c bulbs was take my whole center console, head unit surround bit, and the plastic around the a/c controls off and i could get my hand in behind and get the bulbs out that way.

and yes mine is an auto, and yes i have replaced the shifter light, its a t10 same as the dash bulbs. It looks better, no hotspots or anything, but the problem is that the actual plastic the light shines through is coloured sort of yellow/brown on the D,3,2 & L and P is green, so it only looks a fraction better colour wise, but its deffinatly brighter.

To get to the shifter bulb you just take out the center console then feel under the shifter near the light and you'll feel wires, then just follow them up to the bulb holder and twist it out.

Yeah, I had already looked into the shifter light and thought it seemed like the letters coloured the light a bit, but couldnt get a good idea because the LED was directly below the green neutral position

Keep me posted! I am also trying to do that same thing, thinking of having the guide open on the laptop and try to follow it. My D light and Fan control lights are gone, so its not an option no more :/

Led's are on their way!! And my dash is in bits.... haha

But just FYI,

Analog Clock 2x T4 Neo Wedge Globes
A/C Controls 1x T5 Globe
Hazard Light Switch 1x T4 Neo Wedge Globe
Demister Switch 2x T4 Neo Wedge Globes
Cigarette Lighter Socket 1x T5 Globe
Ash Tray 1x T5 Globe
Ignition Switch 1x T5 Globe
Door Lock 1x T5 Globe
Foot Wells 2x T10 Globes
Main Cluster Lighting 4x T10 Globes
Cluster Gear Indicators (Eg P N R D 2 3) 6x Tall T4 Neo Wedge Globes
Gear Selector (Auto) 1x T10 Globe
Glovebox 1x T10 Globe

Just putting it out there, maybe it'll save someone having to take all that stuff apart just to find out what globes are in there! :D

Also on a bit of a side note, i've found that you can scratch the coating off the Gear Selector Panel, and actually make the light come through white, i'll post up some pics soon, i was pretty messy with it, but im sure if you took your time you could make it look really good.

Seems like your model is different to mine haha, I don't have lights for smoke lighter, ash tray, ignition etc.

are you sure their not blown? i'm fairly sure all second gen magnas have lights in the lighter socket and ignition, as for the ashtray im not sure.

On another note, most of my Led's are in! I will post up some pickies later on, and some things to be wary of.

I got the analog clock, A/C dash and lighter socket ones in, and i have to say, the clock looks great!!

thanks for the list of globes for all the parts, I am getting some LED's for my instrument cluster myself atm while vynil painting some of my interior, will post some pics up in about a week or 2, but yeah, I am probably gonna use that list of light references when I look around at changing my other globes to a white :P

This is the vynil I am currently painting, which is the entire center bits and around the instrument cluster, with blue display LED's, should look sweet :)

Would also like to paint the vynil panel strip along the console, but not sure how to take it out exactly...

Slide both front seats forward, one screw each side of console down the bottom, then lift out the ashtray, undo the two screws underneath ashtray and entire middle piece will come out.

corndog that wasen't the bit I was talking about, how do you think I was able to paint that center bit in the picture above? This is the bit I am talking about.

You are talking about the gearshift surround/trim, I am talking about the Console panel strip.
