View Full Version : oil leak from the bottom passanger side

Hi guys i have a oil leak on my wifes magna it seems to be coming from the bottom i have degrease the engine is defenitely not the rocker cover o cam seal, any ideas what it can be some days is worse than other days, it did not tdo this when i bought it and when i change the oil i used nulon 15w 40 and it has being doing it too, i uses an engine flush as well, any help would be much apreciated.

Have you considered the Front Main Seal, or the two Cam shaft Seals behind the timing covers? Just had mine replaced this week. The seals themselves are inexpensive, total from dealer was $36, was getting the timing belt done at 200,000 Km, the labour is the killer. I had an oil leak in the same location. :eeek:

Cost $450 for belt, seals and labour, got the water pump done at the same time, would you believe $300 for the pump kit :woot:

Hi guy i know this might not be the right place to chat oil but since we kinda talking about oil leak,just wanted to know if this Castrol Magnatec 15w-40 Part Synthetic Engine Oil can be use in my 2005 series 2 VRX and my 2001 executive thanks in advance.

I think the castrol magnatec would be good for your car many mechanics use it to do servicing.

I used to use magnatec in my 4cyl TR when I had it, found it was great when new but with time it would all of a sudden seem to thin right down and all the rattles and oil burning would return. Luckily, this happened to be just at the right time for an oil change, and also whem magnatec was on sale too. An '05 VRX shouldn't have rattles and oil burning problems in the first place though, any reasonable quality oil of the right viscosity should do.
