I know it's probably an inane question by a newbie, but can anybody advise of the quickest and cheapest method of obtaining a security code for a Lancer radio/CD given to me to replace my standard TH Magna radio/cassette. I have trawled the net looking for code crackers etc, but nothing to suit. Does anybody have software to do this or do I have to go to a Mits dealer & pay through the nose for the code? It's all entirely legal, it's just that the guy who gave me the unit sold the Lancer years ago with another stereo in it and didn't keep the security code numbers from the handbook for this unit. Thanks. I will name my first-born son after anybody who can assist.

You just call up the dealer and tell him your vin number, and he will give you the code
And if they ask for money just look for a different dealer

You'll need to call up with the VIN number of the car the head unit came from. Shouldn't cost you a thing.

Yes, as above.
Just did it 2 weeks ago for the boys lancer.
No fee.

Thats where it will be Difficult.... The Code on the Head Unit must be "linked" to the Cars VIN.

The other way they can do it but it will take longer as they have to go to Mits Aus for it is if you give them the Serial Number off the Radio. Vin number can be done on the phone if you find the right friendly Dealer.
