hey guys/gals
i got a 92 magna.. its on dual fuel and was made to run on gas as petrol makes it run like crap when driving, anyway my issue is that when i first start the car, once its on gas, it runs splutterish but if i take it for a drive around the block, it idles fine and drives fine.. but when its on petrol, it idles straight away.. anyone know why this could happen?? also my transmission has been driving fine but for some reason, there is reverse but it tends to stop trys to kick in and stops again but sometimes when it kicks , you can feel it... whats the best advice to try and fix that

Transmission service would be the best bet, but dont tell them what is happening, just get it service

how easy is it to service it myself or do they adjust bands at the same time?

the strange thing is i can park on a flat surface and it drives up fine, and when its on a bit of a hill, but when i stop somewhere after driving on a hill, it plays up... so either it doesnt like reversing in that part or just dont know...

onEngine Hardware:2.4L 4G64 SOHC 16 Valve 4 Cylinder??. the standard 92 if its banging into reverse it could trany pump problem. service may help .its easy to diy just need to count the bolts on auto sump an get matching kit .get tranl fluid from mits dealer as it the best to use.

yeah i reckon it is lol its the SE version of the 92.. sometimes it bangs but some times it dont, sometimes it just goes in smoothly... how does the pump stuff up

couldn,t tell you. had a prob with one off mine turned out to be the pump. what the fuild like colour smell. a lot of the auto prob seen to be fuild related. im no expert just in my expspearence,s . with the gen 2s

well i checked it but it dont stink and its still a nice red.. it doesnt happen all the time.. so it has really got me lost... drove to melbourne and back fine no issues.. ah well ill try getting it a service when i can afford it as i dont know hwo to do it myself especially if it needs a filter change

mate its easy as. if you have ramps or car stannds. all done under the car so stands or ramps a must.drian the trany sump .from memery 17mm bolt. drop pan 10mm bolts .remove filter 10mm 5 bolts. a good clean and new filter casket oil. casket all done 30mins

ok sweet do you know how much in parts that will set me back and yeah i got ramps but doesnt the car need to be flat ?

no as the drian is rear off the pan . last one i did was $60. (i buy all my parts from same place and get trade price) buying the oil from mits dealer is cheaper. have you got the owners manaul. as they can be fault tested here a link to a manual down load. http://www.lisho.net/?page_id=3

ah ok.. for some reason when i try and drive on the reverse, then put it into drive, drive cracks the shits until i put it in first back off, and then put it in drive... this wouldnt be a computer issue would it?

now i just worked this out
if i want reverse, i gotta have the car started so if say i drive up the road, and put it in reverse it pulls in and out but if i start the car, and put it in reverse, it bangs but it reverses but it doesnt give me drive unless i start in 1st then head to drive but then lose reverse.... its really confusing
