Hi folks.
Dad just into a 2008 380 SX, after a bingle in his TJ. New car seems great.
Parents live on farm with about 5-7kms dirt roads just to get to town. We reckon mudflaps to save sandblasted paint aand pitted plastic lower body panels will be mandatory. Does anyone with 380 Mudflaps on their car, who travels dirt roads a fair bit, find them effective?
They look pretty small in pics, just wondering if they provide much protection to the sides of the car?
Bluetooth: Is the factory Bluetooth a good option, or would I be better-off spending my coin on a Parrot full kit with its own screen etc. dad's car has the std SX six-stack CD and colour display screen for audio/climate. I wondered if a parrrot kit with its own screen might be easier to use for older folks (eg: like my parrot CK3100 with mono LCD screen as against the CK3000 Evolution with no screen).
Just looking for opinions from those with prior experience of these cars and accessories!
Thanks!

Flaps seem fine
BT I am happy with but I phone sits in front of my MFD so it shows who's calling without the need of a extra screen

Well the bluetooth on my GT works just fine,if you have it fitted, why spend more money on some thing that is already there.....if you are so concerned about a screen, get a phone holder and he can use the phones screen...
and these should work well...lol

Yeah, funny bugger Michael has commented that the factory mudflaps on my 380 are too small & too expensive (I got them from the stealership about a year ago), but I reckon they do the job quite well without looking like effing great rally car add ons. They keep the crap off my lower doors and rear panels much better than with no mudflaps and the cost isn't too bad ($168 off the top of my head). Easy enough to DIY fit.

Thanks so far, Champs.
Dad's car has no BT fitted, and it seems a Parrot (generic) kit will be cheaper than a factory 380 kit. I may be wrong, thought a Parrot kit with a screen "may" be easier than kit with no screen for non-tech folk. (Any BT may be beyond them!).
Edit: Mudflaps - I have considered truck ones, but if the std ones are effective we may give them a go. The factory flaps do look a little smallish in pics, which is why I ask!

I have a factory parrot kit, factory reverse sensor kit and a brand new set of 380 genuine rear mudflaps here
The Parrot kit is $135 fo the complete kit, is factory so is plug and play and has the proper button for it of course. The reverse sensor kit is the same price, again plug and play once you do your holes in your rear bar, the rear mudflaps are $60 for the set
Glad you went with the 380 as like the Magna are a very under rated car and I am sure there is a lot more yet to be brought out of these cars

Hi
Read the Bluetooth thread at

You may need a patch cable to control volume if using and iphone or some Nokia's

Thanks Telpat16. As we are rural, and my dad is in his 80's - iPhone is not an issue. (they are useless for signal reception, even in the regional city I live in).
Looks like the standard kit will do for us, and I'll see about firmware upgrade if possible. I managed this with Parrot CK3100 in my 3rd Gens - not a simple process, but got there in the end!

Just check parrot website for your local agent/dealer/installer - they shoud be able to do the firmware upgrade - 5 min job with the unit out of the car

I called my local AutoBarn to ask about having them upgrade mine, they asked what version it comes up with when scanning for it, I told them 3.18 and they said they couldn't do it and that it would have to go to the dealer to get done?!

I hunted for info and support at
http://www.strike.com.au/
who are the distributor in Australia. After some email exchanges with support they sent me to a local Sydney installer who upgraded mine to 5.25c
I suspect Autobarn means Parrot dealer, not Mistsu dealer?
They said
"Pleasetry The Carkit Company on 02 9436 1121, or you can search for more certifiedParrot installers through our website at http://www.strike.com.au/resellers (http://www.strike.com.au/resellers)."

Folks,
Just a bit of an Update - concerning the mudflaps for Mits 380.
The Rear Mudflaps are available - I've been quoted prices from high $60- range up to $84-00 (and I have bought a set off MadMagna).
Front Mudflaps, however, are listed as NO STOCK with Mits Australia. My local Dealer had none on-hand. I began to ring-around nearby towns, but struck a Dealer Parts guy who used 'parts locator' and was able to tell me which Dealerships had supposedly got these "on the shelf". I'll go for a drive to Port Macquarie to collect the single set available there.
Just thought I'd share the info that these aren't easy to order just yet, but if a Dealer doesn't have them you can ask fro them to locate stock elsewhere - altho he said they do not "relocate" accesssories from Dealer to Dealer, at least you can find where some are being held. I was also advised to ring these places first, the stock showing may be allocated to a job (eg insurance repair etc) and not be available for purchase.

I picked up a full set (front+rear) from Elizabeth Mitsubishi (SA) this week. They didn't have them in stock, but advised they could get stock in from Sydney - took 2 days for them to get them in.
Their price is $134.20 for the full set of 4.
Agostino Mitsubishi said they had them in stock, but they wanted about $160ish for the full set.
I'm a bit concerned about the instructions that come with them though - on the front ones, it advises to remove two 10x20mm pieces from the edge of the splash shield and the rear ones need two 5x20 pieces removed. The rears even need an extra hole drilled in the splash guard in order to fit them.
I must admit I am a bit concerned about this as I am pretty sure the splash guard is metal (correct me if I'm wrong) and I wouldn't want to stuff it up.
I might call them back and see how much it would cost to just have them fitted - it's going to be a pain in the butt doing it myself, especially as I would have to take the rear wheels (and maybe even the front ones) off in order to do the fitting.

Thanks Minotaur for this info. I was quoted prices almost exactly as you have been.
My local dealer told me accessories would not be relocated - maybe porkies? I was told a dealer in Penrith NSW had 2 sets - so Maybe you got one set from Penrith?
Dealer in Port Macquarie had a single set - and that is closer to me. I was planning to drive there today when I finished work, but bad weather and winding road over Gt Dividing Range didn't seem like a good idea. I'll be paying about $75- for the front set (have a rear set from Madmagna headed my way).
I'll have a look when we actually get the sets - but the fitting instructions do sound like a nightmare - why would they not design them to simply fit?

I fitted my set, tedious but not difficult.
Yes, you need to cut two little rectangular slots in each of the splash guards so that the mounting clips fit properly.
The splash guards are all plastic, no metal, I used a Stanley knife, was fairly easy. The extra hole you need to drill in the rears is also easy, it's fairly soft plastic.
Just remember the golden rule - measure twice, cut once.

I got the impression that they were coming from a warehouse or something like that, and not from another dealer.

That's probably right Minotaur. When I ordered my grandpa wing it came from Sydney too, which is where the guy told me there was a warehouse with 20 or so left over. lol

Oh well, I have just driven a few hundred Km's thru atrocious rain and flooding countryside, to collect a set from Port Macquarie.
Cannot get from here to Gold Coast to get Robceline's KJ leathers, Pacific Hwy is cut in several places.
No doubt you guys are right, and the tools at my local Dealers just couldn't be bothered to order me a set from Sydney. There is a large warehouse in the Granville area in Western Sydney.

Don't get the rally style ones. It would look inapropriate on a 380.
Just get smaller, optional mud/splash guards in black. That would be best.
Here are two examples i'm speaking about:
http://www.mitsupartsworld.com/59-99-large/mitsubishi-galant-mud-guards.jpg
http://www.dragtimes.com/images-classifieds-large/2010-2011--MITSUBISHI-ENDEAVOR-REAR-BACK-MUD-GUARDS-OEM-for-sale_370470060365.jpg
I have the proper mud flaps on one of my Evo's.
They are 3mm kaylan material made for Rally.
They're very strong, they don't flap around when driving and they are good as i do a lot of off road driving around the Wollombi area and other national parks.
But yeah, they wouldn't suit a 380.
