Well, I have searched high and low and I have had no luck finding info on how to wire in the emanage to a magna.

I have the injectors sorted.
I have the TPS sorted.
I have the ignition sorted.

The only pieces of info I am missing:

1. the source for the RPM signal ... I am going with the crank angle sensor, pin 89 on the ECU, (4th from the right on the bottom). Its the BLUE/RED wire.

2. the air flow is a type 2 karman, of course there are 3 leads that head off to the ECU, I think its the 3rd pin on the sensor (or ECU pin 90, 3rd from the right on the bottom) thats the pulse signal (the one required). Its the WHITE/BLACK wire.

I know its not something every one should try at home, but this is one thing I would like to do myself :) Can anybody confirm my selection of wires :) Mitsiman?

Hey mate let us know how you go - in months to come funds permitting i will also be wiring up my own..
maybe a tech article on pin numbers etc ? :D
otherwise ill just have to do the hard yards myself.

Well its in. :) Pretty safe tune ... i.e no adjustments. :)

Damn rain, damn garage being full of other toys ... had to get the tarp out. I wired mine up such that I am using a 15 way connector and can disconnect the greddy in a heartbeat if required.

The pin outs are fairly easy, I'll take some photos and maybe do a page or too describing how I did it.

The problem you will face is that its a tight fit on the existing ECU harness, there is not a lot of room to be splicing in :) so its a pain.

Oh, and the wire choices above were the go :)

tooSlow..if you could write up a tech article on exactly how you did it, what you used etc that'd be greatly appreciated. We need tech articles for the site :D

Good work mate ;D

Well I thought I would go through the installation as per the usual recommended upgrade path.

The unit went in fine, the injector harness is in and working ...

but ... I have had trouble getting the ignition harness to work. Car won't start, pulse present from ECU, no pulse from emanage :( Its cold, wet, and miserable so I will have another crack at the ignition tomorrow.

Ok, it is in and working :) Ignition and all. Turned out to be a bad connection on the greddy harness side (I should have checked) ... a nights sleep and some sunshine and I had the problem resolved in about 15 minutes :)

I will draw up the connection points over the next week, I will also explain a few of the connections, because this is one of the weak points for the greddy. Yes people are posting webpages showing connection diagrams for their cars, but unfortunately there is no info on the actual function/triggering for each connection.

example: the brown wire RPM. This is a triggered connection (pulse), is it 1 firing per cylinder every 2 rotations (i.e on ours 3 pulses per revolution) or is it 1 pulse per revolution ... the answer to this determines the hook up point.

Well I can confirm its 1 pulse per revolution for our magnas ... so hooking it up to the crank angle sensor is the GO!! :)

Anyway ... I am ranting :)

I do sometimes. But they're not all accurate or even filled in.

I thought I would post a few piccies of the install.

Thanks for the pics mate
im in the process of purchasing one of these and was wondering about the ignition harness and injector harness..
are these wired up at the ECU as well, or is it a complete loom that you need to run new wires into the engine bay (god, please no!)
also,
did you end up taking note of how to hook this up? it would save me a helluva lot of a headache :)!!
cheers mate!

Hey i've just picked up an emanage so do you have any more close up pics and wiring diagrams

Here is how I wired mine in. It is working fine for me ... so I assume it would work for you guys also.

The pin outs are for a 3.0 TE/TF MANUAL. From this thou you can work out what is needed for other series of magnas with the help of a circuit diagram.

The RPM signal is patched into the crank angle sensor. The only two ECU wires you need to cut are the Air flow and Ignition. The air flow signal we are interested in is the no 3 pin off the afm (the afm will have 5 or 7 wires). The ignition is the driving signal to the power transistor.

In the unit: The jumper settings should be for a NON VTEC, and I have my ignition using 5v. The rotary switch settings are 5:8:4 being single coil, distributor ignition for a 6 cylinder using the Karman Vortex #2 :)

This is what has worked for me. I take no responsibility to the accuracy of the info, its your car, make sure you know what you are doing, if you are in the slightest bit unsure of something DO NOT DO IT ;).

once u wire in a greddy emanage will the car start and run off the stock ecu? i take it the emanage is a piggy back fuel/ing computer? so there will be no worry's just wiring it in and driving the car like that for awhile before i put a turbo setup on then get it tuned?

Thanks

Yup, Thats what I did. Just make sure all the maps have 0 in them unless you go and get it tuned as stock.
