Hi all.
I need to find out if the crankshaft sprocket, crank anlge sensor disc and sensor are removed or loosened when the timing belt is replaced on a 3,5 ei verada kj.
After having had the timing belt changed earlier this year at the 200k service, it developed a tinking metalic noise from the timing belt side.
Turned out to be the crank angle sensor disc was hitting the sensor and as a result was damaged. This is where it gets funny. I asked the mechanic if that part was removed at the previous service. No answer to that, but he proceded to tell me that, "you know" with rotating parts at high rpm the disc could "develop" a wooble. Really! Kept my mouth shut, as I wanted to find out exactly what is done in replacing a timing belt.
I feel something was left loose or not installed correctly. When I origionally discovered the noise I found one of the bolts for the timing belt cover completely out and stuck under the plastic engine cover, and others were loose. Not a good sign. Also after they "fixed" the sensor problem, since then I've found some of the bolt hole lugs for the covers crushed and broken. They attempted to fix one with glue! Wanted to make sure they were done up this time! They must have left out the steel bushes that are in the bolt holes to have done that.
Any information about this would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
