My Central Locking seems to be acting wierd, whenever I lock it with the key or remote it just unlocks itself instantly. I took it to mitsubishi and the guy told me it was something to do with the "Master Box" in the door, I'm not too sure what he was talking about but he wants to charge me $650 to replace the part or $350 for a second hand unit if he can find one. Has anyone experienced this problem before? If so what part should I be looking for and if I were to go for an aftermarket Alarm, would i still need the factory alarm system to be fully functional? Im thinking of upgrading to a Viper 5901 System if its going to cost me $650 to get the Central locking system working again. Please Help....

What model car is it in?

Visit to Car Wreckers FTW, I reckon. Working in the doors is incredibly fiddly and can scratch yourself to mincemeat on the many secret sharp bits in there - but Stealership is talking stupid money IMHO.
Check out Mits-Fix - a Forum sponsor, he may have what you need at better prices, or offer a cheaper solution....

It is probably fixable.
Inside the master unit there is a triangular paddle that is flipped from side to side. Controls a microswitch on each side.
However the paddle goes onto a rubber buffer that acts as a dampener/end stop.
Rubber deteriorates. Paddle then can overtravel, microswitch then is overridden, hence the flipping off that you are experiencing.
Had similar problem on a KS Verada many moons ago.
Took actuator out, pried apart. Removed what was left of the rubber gunk and then glued in a pair of new pieces of rubber.
Porblem solved.

I'm actually going to Mits-Fix tomorrow to replace the whole actuator, The guy down there told me it was $80 for the Part and $40 to get it fitted.

Thanks for the Help Guys & Girls, I'll update if it all goes to plan.
