Hi guys, I'm new on the forum and don't have much experience with cars.

I have a TL wagon and I've been getting shuddering when coasting, but only at low RPM. Anyway, my house-mate suggested cleaning the ISC but what he said was the ISC ended up being the TPS. I'm ****ing spewing cause I removed it only to find this out. I've since located and cleaned the ISC and with the help of the workshop manual and a multimeter I have, to the best of my knowledge, got the TPS back in the right spot.

The shudder when coasting at low RPM is now gone, but my problem now is that my idle speed fluctuates, sort of like it's surging.

It's is my own fault, I should have come on here to begin with, but I trusted my house-mate's opinion as he's worked on several of his own cars, HA!

Is there a way for me to fix this, or should I take it to the shop?
Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks guys
Simon :)

Thanks for your reply :)

I'm not sure, but I don't think it's the ISC because of the sequence of things...

Took off TPS by mistake > Put TPS back where I thought it went > Took off ISC and cleaned it.

At this point I drove it and the idle was fine and the shudder were gone, but the gears were being held too long. So today I got the multimeter out and adjusted the TPS according to the workshop manual, which is when the idle problem started.

Sorry, I should have put that in the first post :s

Would disconnecting the battery to reset the ECU, then letting it idle for 10-15mins help?

if you disconnected the battery, reconnect,

the center dash piece (trip computer/clock) with has a 5 - sedan, w - wagon, hold mode button on selected choice, then 3L or 3.5L will pop up, select again what motor size,

then for gears, start car, then go , N, R, N, D, N, R, N, D, N, R,

thats what my manual told me to do and worked

if its not a tippy

go for a drive using the gears, use 1st till your liking, 2nd again, 3rd the same then D, gears should change as they used to
