Hi All,

Have a 4G54 Auto TS Exec Wagon and having issues with tuning. I have done all the usual stuff, changed all filters/oil/fluids, new timing chain/balance chain & sprockets, ISC servo & MAF sensor have been cleaned and have tried everything I can think of, but still getting crap fuel economy & low torque. Also idle is kinda rough. I drive from Largs North to Mt Barker for work most days, and she really struggles on the long climbs.
If anyone knows a good (cheap if possible) mechanic that can help me iron out the kinks, I'd really appreciate their details.

Alternatively I'm open to any suggestions...

Cheers

you checked timing and made sure all the dizzy ect is in good order. i had very similar problems with an ef falcon that had a dirty crank angle sensor that ment it really lumbered up hills because it didn't have accurate timing so thats why i would be thinking spark related. otherwise could be dirty injectors ect causing it. you could try some injector cleaner even tho i personally dont believe it does much. my main issues on the old engine in my first gen were air leaks causing erratic idle and dirty injectors and throttle body. a throttle body clean and air filter change ect wouldn't hurt.

fuel economy could be o2 sensor?

although it wouldn't cause excessive fuel consumption fuel filters are often overlooked.

also could be coil breaking down under load as apparently these are pretty notorious for it.

also how does it start from cold ect. check the color and condition of spark plugs and compare to a chart and that may tell you if its running rich or what

only a few stabs in the dark but could be something like these things
