I have a 1999 KH Xi verada that I suspected the battery dieing slowly over a while. It was taking a long time to turn the motor over slowly, and one day wouldn't start after a short drive. Swapped the battery for another one, all charged up, and it would start fine, the startor motor turned over a lot quicker than previously. This afternoon it turned slower again when starting, drove the car for 40-50mins with no lights on so it would have had plenty of time to charge, and won't start now.
Tried with a 2nd battery jumper cabled to the car, no luck, tried with jumpers to another car running with the engine revving, no luck. Have 2 batteries on charge now to try it again tomorrow, but it sounds like the startor motor is clicking in but not turning the engine at all. Has anyone had any similar problems and have any ideas on things to check? Alternator was the 1st suspect, if it isn't charging while I drive, but it should have started when we tried to jump start it?
2nd is the starter motor I guess. Is there a secret spot I can hit it with a block of wood to get a few more starts out of it like with a commodore? And if it is the starter, will one out of a 5sp auto TJ VRX fit a 4sp auto verada?
Anyone else had similar problems or any tips to try?

edit: battery soon reached 100%, pretty sure its not the battery.

Would check to see if the alternators charging the battery at all
If its not the alternator then you'll have an electrical leak somewhere inside the car
Added anything to the cars electrics recently?

Electrics are all stock. Remember'd I'm in the RAA so I'll give them a call and see if they can pinpoint it. Bet it starts now =\

Yep, definately starter motor he says. Will any 3rd gen v6 starter work? Used my free tow to get it home so it's undercover if it rains tomorrow.
