Hi There,
I have added amps and a sub to my stock Ralliart Eclipse system. Also upgraded the Eclipse 6x9s in the back to some much better Eclipse models.
I now feel the tweeters in the front are sounding harsh and sibilant when pushed with a bit of volume.
I figure a good set of Eclipse splits will remedy this, however, what size tweeter do I need to replace the the stock items?
Thanks,
Mark

oh well look with tweeters they usualy come with mounting kits... like you can just get the stock covers for tweeters drill them with the usual 1 1/2 inch hole for the mounting of the aftermarket tweeters. :) i dont hink u can get a STOCK size tweeter. lol

I've had three sets of speakers in my car - Pioneer 'yellow cones', some Cadence set, and now a set of Alpine Type Rs - and all three have fitted in the factory A-pillar mount.
To answer your question, 25mm tweeters will fit inside the factory mount, although they will need to be held in with hot glue/blue tac or similar.

My mistake Red Valdez - i thought the factory tweeter was that massive circle itself.. didnt know you could put a small one in it.. :)

I have alpine type s in my ralliart and they make some great sound!
...Could only imagine alpine type R splits are even better.

I was under the impression that you just stuck the new tweeters into the little plastic case thing however you wanted and wired them up.
My RF splits come with massive tweeters, and that's my plan when i amp everything up. Some hot glue and they should be sorted.

Thats the hole on the dash for mid speaker, for the models witha premium stereo, The A pillar is the black triangle in front of, and touching your front door glass (http://i1191.photobucket.com/albums/z467/Shootmarty/Audio%20Mods/IMG_0994-1.jpg).
Thats where the tweeter goes in the premiums.
Thanks for the tip on the hot glue gun Red.

It's been a while since I've played around with the cases, but I can't recall there being anything inside to actually hold the tweeter in place. You need to hold it somehow. Thankfully it's not too hard as the case isn't much larger than the tweeter.
Thanks for the tip on the hot glue gun Red.
I should add that mine are held in my blue-tac... I take no responsibility if something goes wrong using a hot glue gun :P

I must add that i can also fit the Focal Inverted tweeters in mine without and issue, mine are taped in, but i have found on other installs that the best way is to get some thick Weather Strip Tape (thick foam tape) and wrap it around the tweeter to the point where, when you push the tweeter in it sits snug without the need for glue or sealant.
Otherwise the next best thing would blue tac since it is easy to remove, that is of course if you want a DIY way of doing things, as pro's will make a bracket to hold it in place or use an epoxy to hold it in place (but i frown on the epoxy).
