Right i'm takin out my dash and i've found all the bolts (inc the 2 wing nuts for the air con dash :rant: and the ones under the speakers :rant: :rant: ) and the dash is completely loose and disconnected.... i think :confused:
IT WON'T BLOODY SLIDE OUT!!!!!!!!!! :mad:
what i want to know is is it: 1) just a case of jiggling it around till it comes out or 2) are there some more clips attatched to the air con controls i've missed or 3) do i have to take off the gear knob (its an auto) to give the dash more room.
i think its the last one but i don't know how to disconnect the actual knob, i've got the slidy bit loose but can't get rid of it cause the knob is still connected by a thick wire and i can't see a clip to take it out.....

righto, silly me i forgot to unclip all the electrical type connections.... no wonder the dash couldn't go anywhere!!!!
now all i gotta worry about is getting it all back in there...... :cry: :cry:

Good luck putting it back in lol...it's not too hard..but it's just tedious. See if you can do better than me and end up with less than 2 bolts left over :P

i've failed that one already cause i've got absolutely no intention of trying to put those 2 or 3 back in behind the air con controls...the ones in the top drivers side corner. :P

i have a nasty feeling that its gonna be a little more than tedious tho, cause i'm re-trimming the dash so there's that little bit less space to work with.....
meh, only gotta get it back in once, then i can take the extra's off later (glovebox, air con vent piece) to cover and paint em.
got any tips on getting it back in to make it easier?? :D

lol not really...it's just the reversal of getting it out.

There's no real trick to it, just make sure you push it as far back as it can go. There are two bits that line up where the speakers go, I cant recall if they're just lugs for lining it up or if they're for bolts...but they need to line up and be basically level with the hole they're lined up with before it's all in place properly.

i have 24 screws :shock: , a push in clip and a wing nut left over!! lol
but nothing moves and everything stays where it is and is secure :cool:

i thought me and a mate were doin ok too,till i realised he was sittin on a bunch of screws... :confused:

i did mine and i was left over with 4 screws still sitting in my ash tray. No idea where they came from but ditto as with nuthing moving so im not particulaly worried. Dont know why but ust thought id mention it but how good is the fact that everything in the car from panels to covers to dash are all held together by bolts or screws.

apart from those f :rant: :rant: :mad: ing pull screws up near the firewall on the lower panel.
they dun come out unless you pull bloody hard and in the right direction....
but other than those, yeah, true

i took out my centre console after a lot of effort tryna work out how to do it without asking...but i was left over with a 4 screws and i couldn't for the life of me find out where they came from...maybes its an extra that comes with magnas that you get random screws that appear when removing the centre console/dash... :P
