Heya
Been browsing round the rpw site, and noticed that the CAI kit states:
'Note that this will ONLY suit Manuel Model V6 engines. Automatic models can be made to fit but it is not recomended'

Is the set-up different? or are autos just not cut out for it?

Cheers

I think its because the piping needs to be routed differently as the auto box takes up a bit of room and they only supply that as a pre made kit to suit the manuals.

there's a DIY floating around somewhere i think that details how to make your own in the same style. however, as some will warn you (i.e. Dingers), driving through puddles is not recommended

It's easy to fit on autos once you get the knack.
First time will be an absolute pain in the ass since there's a lot less clearance for you to fit the pipe down next to the radiator.
The piping is routed exactly the same, just less room to get it done with the auto since the box is huge.

However it can be done and has been done many times, myself included.

Also don't listen to people who say you need an Oval K&N pod to work with our MAFs, that's bullshit.
Just make sure you get the plastic MAF adapter from Autobahn etc etc for a Mirage/Lancer/Magna and you'll be right to fit a 25 dollar pod on there.

Whether or not it actually does anything has been covered over and over, but who cares, it sounds SICK.

Try not to buy new from RPW if you can help it.

I'd recommend going into the Tech Torque section and digging out 86_Elite's RPW style tutorial which is identical to RPW minus the unnecessary K&N filter and cheaper.

LOL. DO NOT DRIVE THROUGH FLOODED ROADS.
I did this in peak hour traffic cause I had no choice and ended up getting towed home.
Luckily there was no damage. Needless to say - cold water sucked into hot engine = bad mojo.

Quite a few guys have destroyed their engines doing this.

Have a spare intake set up in the boot, even if it's just an exposed pod lol.
First smell of rain chuck the thing on.

I'd recommend buying extra pipe and revising the RPW design so you don't have to relocate the MAF at all and use the standard intake pipe - use your imagination.

It's on my to do list, I'm currently running a pod in a cut out intake box.
