checked the fuses in the engine bay and footwell, where ever the AC fuse is? pretty sure its engine bay and a 20amp

You probably have a burnt out resistor on the fan speed control (located inside the air duct, near the fan). You get to it above the L Side passenger's feet. If you set the speed control to maximum and it all works, this is the problem. You need to replace the resistor bank.

As above, the resistor pack inside the air con evap box may be the issue, if this is not working then the fan will nto work.

Just re read, if the resistor is not working then the fan will still work on fast, I assume you have tested power is coming out of the switch, if so, there is a controller on top of the evap box as well, this may be giving issues and although is not a fan controller cna also cause the fan to stop dead

Thank god for people answering a question i havn't asked yet! Haha

I have the problem with my fan only working on full power! How do i (we) fix the resistor?

it might be the fan motor itself. under the glovebox there is a cover. remove the cover and you will be able to see the plug into the fan motor. remove the plug and use a test light/multimeter/or spare fan motor to test if there is power coming to the plug (make sure ignition is on / fan is on). if there is power then its the fan motor thats faulty. its an easy swap to fit a new motor(20- 30 minutes in and out)and about $25 to buy the used motor from most wreckers. you need a wobbler extension bar end on your ratchet to get 1 bolt out of the fan motor as its up against the firewall

To fix the resistor, you go to your friendly dealer and buy a new one. Or you could be a cheapskate b-stard like me who, years ago, botched up a piece of resistoance wire and crimped it into place. Actually, I enjoy doing repairs like this, and had a bit of a head scratching session as to what to use. I had access to special resistance wire and made my own first stage resistor.

The system works like this: At fan speed 1, the fan motor current goes through all stages of the resistors. They are in series and therefore the voltage getting to the fan motor is reduced and it goes slower. As you select a higher speed, more resistors are bypassed and the motor gets more speed until finally at maximum speed, all resistors are bypassed. That is why you dan get the fan (and A/C) running at max but nothing else.

My botch job worked, but I was guessing at the length and resistance I needed, and the minimum fan speed was considerably higher that it used to be. I am sure that a new resistor bank will not be very expensive.

Your car is displaying the same symptom as mine where the fan would not work on any speed yet the air con switch light would. You can try tapping the base of the fan motor which is located beneath the glove box with your fist or rubber mallet to switch it on (i did this until i could find a replacement motor) but ultimately you will have to replace the fan motor.
