View Full Version : New Exhaust Ideas

Well due to new understanding of the 3rd Generation Magna exhaust systems apparently there are very substantial gains available for a complete replacement.
This is very good news for me as I was looking for a mod that would give me decent all round gains for around $1000 before i get a final tune done with the greddy, after this performance mods will stop for a while so i can make the car look a bit nicer
So I am looking for exhaust ideas, i was wondering because i already have the lukey muffler and tip can it be cut and used on the new exhaust or should i get a new muffler too (its only about 1 year old).
So this will also include a high flow cat, i want to know would 2 3/4" be enough or should i go for 3" system, wat type of system would everyone recommend.
Im hoping for a final dyno tune print out of around 200hp at the wheels, in the 190s now so over 200hp would be great
Any help appreciated
Paul

My vote is for a full 3" system. I'd expect you'd need to go for a muffler with 3" piping or it will rob some of your gains, but then I'm an IT guy not an exhaust specialist so what would I know? :D
maybe not a 3inch, would be a waste of money unless u plan to get a turbo

Not according to this post on the MOGWA forums (http://www.mogwa.org/forum/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?from_site=&t=5375)
yeh as dave says
I don't think 3" is necessarly what everyone needs but a definite new look at a new 2 1/2" system with a 2 1/2" high flow cat is now seeming to be the better option.

Since mr_mbquart has already got all the mods that the guy on MOGWA has 3" can't be too bad :D I wonder why you'd put a new 2.5" system on a car that already has a mandrel bent 2.5" system.. high flow cat makes sense, but replace the stock piping with stuff the same diameter seems like a waste  unless you could somehow iron out that ugly 90 degree bend right after the resonator :doubt:

see im not sure here, 3" may be too big possibly but considering the stock exhaust is similar to 2 1/2" then im thinking maybe 2 3/4" all the way through, wat do ppl think of this?

Don't the Pacemaker extractors have a 2.5" outlet???, I think 3" would be overkill  .
Maybe try the 2 3/4" from the cat back (including new hi-flow cat) and see how it responds, then do the rest of the system upto the extractors if all is good:D

I had my system installed by Willoten Exhasuts for South of the River in Perth.
Found them to be a decent price, help etc

and magnas dont all come with 2.5" mandrel bent, early ones (TE-TF from memory) had parts of the exhaust which measured 2.25", an exhaust as only as good as its smallest point

but if there is no loss in torque (shouldn't be if has extractors) why not just get the 3 inch for an extra 50 bucks. gives room for mods later down the track
