Hey guys, have recently run into issues with a faulty fuel control module, and was wondering what way i should go?? should i try to find a replacement one, given that it can only be a genuine mitsubishi part, or go for an aftermarket fuel pressure regulator, or something else entirely??
Is for a carby astron 2 engine

not sure where in nsw you are but this looks like a good buy. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Mitsubishi-Magna-Elite-1990-4D-Sedan-4-SP-Automati-/170655904340?pt=AU_Cars&hash=item27bbe27254

The fuel control module is entirely electrical and nothing like a fuel pressure regulator. It is basically a relay that supplies power to the fuel pump only when the engine is either cranking or running. It is important, for safety purposes, to keep the original functionality. For example, in a crash, it stops the fuel pump which would otherwise keep pumping fuel into the wreckage if a fuel line was broken.
I wouldn't think they'd be more than $10 or $20 from a wrecker. They're pretty reliable. I've had three 1st gens over a period of 24 years and never had one fail.
