Hey guys..

I'm just about to upgrade the suspension in my TJ Wagon & I'm looking to get it setup right to tow my boat. I will be installing Boge shocks front & rear but unsure what springs i should get? I heard you can get heavy duty springs & want to know what ones are the best for towing?? Plus do i need to upgrade the front springs? The suspension is pretty much shagged after 11 years..

Anyone who has done a suspension upgrade on TJ Wagon for towing I would love to hear what you have done..

Also the car will be getting transmission cooler & the ride will be staying at the standard height.

Cheers..

Try a forum search for Dobinsons springs. Reports posted to date appear favourable & they are available through Madmagna/mitsfix.

Cheers

I'm looking at the same thing for my TW, which has I think the same back end. Pedders quoted $310 to fit a pair of heavy duty springs, which will raise the back about 1". King spings also do suitable springs. Google them and you can download their catalog. There's also the Polyair option, and you can get them for $210, + fitting. I did this myself on our AUIII wagon and it wasn't hard.

I'm leaning towards Pedders.

I just replaced the springs on my TL Magna wagon. It is a really easy job. I bought raised springs from Pedders for $180 for the pair. They have a great website.
To do the job:- Jack up the back, take off the wheels, undo the 17mm lower nuts on the shocks. Place the jack under the center of the rear axle and jack it slowly till you see the shocks free. Pull the bottom of the shock off the bolt and let the jack down. The original springs come strait out. The raised springs are a little harder to get in. I had to get my son to stand on the shock bolt to give me a little extra room.
Whole job was well under an hour.
I often tow a boat with my Magna and when the whole family are in with the boat on - it did get a bit low at the back. Mine has done 140k. I would say the original springs must have sagged quite a bit.
I not tested with a full load and boat yet - Next weekend hopefully
Hope this helped.
