Hey guys,

Has anyone here looked into changing the tiptronic shifter to reverse its operation?

Push forward to go down a gear, and pull back to go up a gear? (how it should be!)

Im just about to pick up a Series 2 GT (after owning a SX) and will look into this for my first mod.

It can be done. I was going to look in to it but my work has bought some automatic trucks that are set up the same as my 380, I thought I'd better leave it to stop myself getting confused. lol

Yeah do it, let me know how it works out!

I am keen to do this too, as it seems a little less natural to change gear the current way.

I know it was a pretty simple mod for the Magna, but am yet to see one done on a 380.

Good Luck!

will get into it as soon as I get hold of the GT...

Anyone know the link to the same magna mod?

See Workshop manual page 23a-303

Two discrete switches for up and down, should be easy to swap the wires

Just need to swap the + and - symbols around after doing the mod... this bit actually looks like the hard part.

I hope I never get to drive your car once you have done this!
Push forward (in the direction you want to go faster) to change up; pull back (to change down and slow down) seems a logical and natural process to me.

Hee! I'm seriously considering re-wiring the steering wheel audio controls to the tippy microswitches for use as paddle shifters :rofleek:

If you look at how the drivers in rally and touring cars do it you'll see it's done opposite to how the 380 has it. Even the EVO Rally teams switch them around.

That would be awesome! Put Ferrari to shame
Its stuff like this that makes me not want to sell my car.
The potential is endless

I am in the process of doing this with my wagon as I have the 380 wheel on it

The issue you will have is that the 3 buttons do not use a on off set up like the switches, I have ordered a little controller I hope will work so what happens it gets the signal from the switch, it then will work like the microswitch depending on the voltage it gets.

The other way may be to use the centre button on the audio BUT then you have one side up and one side down, this was not what i was after as I want to use the up and down buttons on both sides if that makes sense

Hmm , I probably wouldn't mind this. What does the button normally do? (I can't remember, never use them)

Actually , after more thought I've decided against this.. I can see me getting into a complicated situation wanting to change gears after/inside a corner and not being able to work out where the up down shift buttons are on a rapidly rotating steering wheel! I might look at mounting some paddles on the steering column, but this will be more difficult and wil have to wait for it's turn on my prioritised mod list
