View Full Version : Where would one go to order OEM parts from the states?

I need to order a part that is exclusive on the USDM mitsubishi's. I've tried my local mitsu dealership and they can't order it because the car I want the part from does not exist (08+ galant or eclipse).

Google is absolutely pathetic at finding US mitsu wreckers sites. Are there any tips or leads people can give me?

The part I am chasing is the front bank mivec oil control valve. The ADM version of the 3.8L mivec engine only has the one valve - the USDM ones have 2. I need the USDM version so I can mount the distributor to the car without modifying any thing else.

I don't have a part number or anything.

Could try a US car forum, or ebay.com.us for a dealer selling parts or someone wrecking one?

I'm trying the forums now. Google is a *****.. Type in "US Mitsubishi Wreckers" and you get 10+ pages of .com.au sites. It's like google sorts out all the hits and only lists the local ones, can't seem to find any options to stop that.

I've tried various sites like that. None have the part listed I am chasing.

you can also set google to just search for US pages. e.g the following link
Google Search (http://www.google.com/search?q=mitsubishi+wreckers+%22america%22&hl=en&tbo=1&biw=1600&bih=793&num=10&lr=&ft=i&cr=countryUS&safe=images&tbs=cloc%3Ac%2Ccl_loc%3AAmerica)

Get me a vin, perhaps someone off one of the us forums can give the vin number for the sake of looking up the part, once I have a VIN I should be able to get the part for you

I already have the one for the rear bank, which comes stock on the pajero heads. This also feeds the front bank through an oil hose and a couple of banjo bolts. As you can see in the diagram above it sits where the distributor normally goes. The USDM engine also have one on the front bank, which eliminates the feed from the rear bank.

What I want to do is get this other solenoid, and mount it on the rear bank so the shaft can pass through. Then I mount the distributor on top of that, and bolt everything down, they share the same mount holes. Of course I'll need to extend the cam shaft. I consider this easier than mounting the dissy on the front bank and fabricating/modifying the water lines.

I know this will work because the pajero heads came with a "blanker" that allows the shaft to pass through, I test fitted it all this arvo and it fitted all snug. I just need the above part with all the solenoid crap in it.

just a thought - is it something a Legnum may have?

If you can get a part number you can order from a local mits dealer, they just have trouble finding part numbers for OS cars.

VR4's are about 10 years old. The motor I'm playing with was first released back in 05. Completely different beasts.

I've gotten my hands on a copy of the Mitsubishi Aftersales Support (ASA) Software with the CAPS databases for the yank models. Just need to sort out the copy protection and I may host it. The file should have everything that I need.
