View Full Version : How are dash speakers connected: Ralliart

Hey guys,

Few weeks ago, had the volume in the Ralliart turned up fairly high, and suddenly the front right half of the car's speakers stopped working.
By that, i mean drivers dash, door and tweeter.
Was gonna check it out earlier, but i was too lazy to worry about it.

Just wondering if anyone knows if the dash speaker(s) in these is connected straight to the headunit (meaning it failed), or if it's wired up on the same wire as the door and tweeter, meaning it could be the cable(s)?

Just hoping i can ghetto rig it back up to working again if it's cables while i re-save up some money to grab some 6x9s and make it worth my effort to do the audio system.

Straight to the head unit, sounds like you've blown a channel on the integrated amplifer on the head unit.

You could have just blown the right channels, i know it sounds weird that they would blow at the same time but its not impossible for it to happen. Other idea is the same as above you could have just blown some circuits on the inside of the head unit itself.

Get a multimeter onto the speaker wires that come out into the door and dash and see if they are getting power.

Alright, so after listening closely, it appears the dash speaker is working at random times on low volume levels.
I'll probably rip the head unit out again and have a feel/look around sometime tomorrow. If the headunit itself is dead, i might just grab a cheapo and another wiring kit and dump all my amps in for a minute.

Just as another couple quick questions while i have this thread, are these headunits meant to be grounded by the screws? Because mine is.
And could a CD stacker that makes moving sounds when a button's pressed but doesn't light up be fixed, or is it stuffed?

The head-units are grounded/earthed through the head-unit casing and mounting brackets in the Mitsi (3rd Gens at least). There is no earth wire in the loom plug going to the head-unit. Bear this in-mind if you add an after-market head unit, there are several convenient bolts or screws in the dash near the audio "hole" that you can run an earth wire to, however.

CD stacker - no idea. Does it load or eject discs at all?
