Hi all, very new to this 'forum' stuff, but here goes; timing chain just shat itself. Wanna put another motor in, as this one a bit tired, over 300K's. Question? Can a 1991 motor 'drop in' to my 1994 car? Any help very much appreciated. Thanx in advance. Lenno

Yes. considering both the motors are auto or manual. but if on is v6 and one is 4cly you will have problems.

Hi cberry, thanx for that, and yes, they are both auto's, and 4cyl's. Oh, btw, the bloke said his auto's keep 'blowin up', can this be caused by the motor? And, he said it was a GEM Reco, is that ok to pop in. Cheers Lenno.

the auto blowning up will haave nothing to do with the motor. the gen rego will be fine . i would check welsh plugs before i put the engine in not know how long its been since rego.

I do have a feeling that putting an older motor in a newer car is against the law. Could be wrong. Something to do with Emissions?

Assuming that it is from a TR and not a TP

Yeah just make sure because your 1991 may not be a TR.

If its from a TP it might not be so easy?

G'day magnaman, just a quick question. We got the motor in, fits like a glove. . . .BUT, it wont start. Did they, or, is the "Fly-wheel" different in "Diameter"? The starter spins, throws out but don't engage when it's fitted.

yep they are a pian there are 7 different sterters.best to have starter and flywheel of the same motor. if you have a nother starter try that..bad news is you may have to drop the box and change fly wheel . i hope not.

sorry you had to pull the motor out again.if you can. would pay to get a spare ecu and tcu. as they are the main reassone for problem with the gen2s.

We'd know all about that Magnaman. I finally caved and got an AMC membership. I'll be putting the power steering racks in the KR today or tomorrow. Come down and give me a hand if you're not doing anything.
