Hi, my first post on here, thought its about time i joined after purchasing my third magna....well verada actually... i wanted to know if anybody knows if there is a k&n panel filter available for a september 03 kl verada gtvi as i was told by a guy in an accessories shop that they dont make one for that model but they do for the kj verada ! Could anyone also advise me on a brand of exhaust system or just the muffler although im told this isnt too effective alone, does the rear bumper have to be cut away as the stock one is pointing down unlike the vrx which pops straight out of the back? And my last issue is the keyless remote which has stopped working after a couple of days use, i replaced the battery and followed the intructions on how to link it up to the car again but cant get it to work, the indicators flash saying its ready to send a signal to the remote but the remote doesnt seem to be responding! Any responses would be greatly appreciated, regards, paul

Q: Could anyone also advise me on a brand of exhaust system or just the muffler although im told this isnt too effective alone
A: when u say isnt too effective alone, do u mean power? or sound? i have a sports muffler fitted to my TE and it sounds great... not sure what brand or anything tho (i just left it at the muffler shop and tod them i wanted it to sound good)

Q: does the rear bumper have to be cut away as the stock one is pointing down unlike the vrx which pops straight out of the back?
A: not with a new muffler fitted no because they can step it down so it pokes strait out underneath the bumper.... i recommend a smaller or flatter shape tip tho so it isnt too close to the ground
here is mine:

A: just go to mitsubishi and buy a new remote, i need one but i havent got round to it yet!.

hope i was of help :)

Thanks guys i am suprised i got a couple of replies to my post within an hour or two ! I have owned a lot of cars in my time and i have to say i really like magnas/veradas ..they are great value and give me a lot of pleasure, but i tend to get a bit obsessive over the maintenance and aftermarket add ons and extras, as for my current one i think a decent exhaust and a good filter and platinum plugs will suffice in the power/engine department and cosmetically i will probably change to 18 or 19 inch alloys, does anyone have any ideas how to change the look of the headlights at all? i think the tj's and previous models have a nicer looking front end, it feels like i need to blacken the lights a bit or somehow make them smaller lol, my wife said i should paint some eyelashes on them! i said the day it does is the day it becomes exclusively your car !

Most common thing to do for headlights is upgrade to parabolics. However considering you already have a Verdada - you will have them. However (correct me if I'm wrong becaue GTVi could be different) all Veradas had the two piece parras. Some people prefer the one piece (they include the indicator).
If you feel that they need to be blacked out, it is possible to take the lens of the light and paint the chrome insert black. (not the round part, the shroud that surrounds it). That way the back disc will be chrome, but all of it's surroundings will be blacked out. In saying that, the light output of parras is already horrid and I'm not entirely sure if this would further decrease that...
But it's an idea.
I remember a few users have done this black out mod, but I can't think of any off hand. Hopefully they will post in here and will be able to show you what it looks like :D

ps - i hope that all makes sense :/ haha

EDIT: Just realized he has a KL. Oooooops.

KL - he would have the different front end. I think it still has the regular intake box, the K&N for 1995-2005ish magnas should fit, there is debate on weather the k&n is actually any better or not since as long as its clean the stock paper air filter has been proven to be pretty good.
As for the remote, the battery can come loose if its dropped, there is a guide or two on here about fixing it, otherwise available new from mits for $99 I think, or on ebay from $40-$60 usually.

my key didnt work when i got it , its not the battery that comes loose but the battery holder on the circuit board , the 2 places it is soldered on are weak and break when dropped , takes about 5 min to re solder , i did mine and it works great ever since

heres the guide

as for the exhaust iv got a 2.5 inch system with a hotdog and glass packed rear muffler and highflow cat sounds great and goes abit better
