So i bought my Magna and it came with this Sony Explod System and for some reason the Amp it came with is no longer working but the fuse is fine. I think that the amp may have blown or its not properly connected. All the cords to the amp seem to be plugged into the correct spots. I don't know to much about the system and the instructions arn't to terribly detailed. Anyone who understands the sony gear would be a great help.

First question is how cluey are you with a multimeter and electronics?
First you need to ensure the amp is actually getting power so test for power on the amp end of the 12v (power) and the remote (rem) wire, if these are getting power then check the ground. If all those are good any no fuses are blown check that you are actually getting a signal (power) out of the speaker wires.

@Peaandham - Ok i'll look into those things, but i forgot to mention that the two lights labeled power and protection were both working and the protection light was flashing but then when i got home the amp was no longer working. However the headunit kept displaying a Failure notice on the screen every so often.
@Hayden - I'm going to go out on a limb and assume you want to say sony sucks? =P I think i've figured that out haha.

Take the battery terminals off for 10mins and let the battery reset then try again.

As much as I don't like sony xplode systems, a sound system is a sound system, there is many things to check, best option is to rip everything apart to see all the cables and checking if there is any fry anywhere or cuts etc, and then there is checking if each piece of equipment is working to its standards and taking apart 1 speaker at a time and see if it can atleast run some channels on 1 speaker or something, then there can also be by taking the amp out of your system or the speakers and putting it in a working unit you can do to see if it works there to figure if something else in your car is the problem, there can be many ways, it's more or less just eliminating one bit after another, sorting out what works and what dosen't, that is what I would do.

Thanks DragonKing. Thats what i'm trying to avoid having to do but it could be nesscesary i think. Unfortunately i don't have the skill to be pulling a speaker out of the door (since i believe its not connected). So any tips on doing this will help. I checked the fuses to the whole system yesterday and none are blow as far as i can see. All the cables a in a good condition although i did notice some white crust that you normally see when batteries leak so i wonder if this was caused by the amp as the cables are also a bit grungy. Could it be a problem?
Peaandham, we are going to get a blue slip for her this afternoon. (wish us luck) As far as i can see, the car has no other mods other then the audio, but who knows. We'll try that when we've tried replacing the whole system this week. I have a friend whos going to give me his second hand system he's never used. (One of the rear speakers has blow and now just vibrates instead of play music!)
So far i don't have a positive view of "Sony".

The battery leak, also corrosssion I believe shouldn't affect it in any way at all, but washing it away is a good idea, just chemicals you don't want to work with, but like you said yes, from what it sounds, would just be best to replace the whole system if you are just having problems or get it checked out from a professional soundman, but just a tip not to rush yourself in any way with finding new sound systems that as you may find other stuff you want to get or what is better, there is many things you can go for, and don't go for the cheapest problems or easy fixes as they are never good and wear out your stuff faster, especially cables. If you are going to be running a heavy sound system, you will want to check your alternater and work out if you will be able to charge enough power and run a heavy powered system with decent powered amps and subs and then going onto changing your battery and etc and maybe a capacitor, but don't go upgrading battery and capacitor unless you are going to be running something heavy, capacitor works with a high priced battery.
Sony are good, but I have found to be very low quality and you don't get much out of them from experience and other friends, but they do the job, sometimes you just get unlucky.

Thanks for those tips DragonKing.
I pulled out the amp this afternoon and checked the fuses. I found one was a bit black. Probably not any trouble but it might be worth getting a new 25 amp fuse and replacing it. Fingers crossed.
The rear speaker cable has come off so it has to be resoldered and the other rear speaker is not having a good time. I think its blown out and is the cause of some very anti-social fart noises =S
Otherwise the system could be ok. But i'm getting some replacement gear of a friend sometime this week or so. We shall see.
Peace.

If a fuse is a bit black, it usually means a blown fuse.
