As I do, every so often I troll the intenet for things to dream about sticking in my 380.
I found this on one fishing trip.

From the limited info is seems to be an in car adjustment?
Comments?

The Galant uses a different ECU to the 380. Ours is a Bosch which has not yet been cracked (functionally at least,) so I'd say that would be useless for you. :(
I'm pretty sure the US Galant uses a different ECU to our 380 (which uses a non-programmable Bosch ECU).
Doh, beat me to it.

Blackstar, before being perma-banned, mentioned an idea of cracking a spare ECU he had laying around with a programmer friend or something.
Has anybody actually tried to read a 380 ROM yet since ECUFlash was updated with Evo X read capability? I've been told they are both M32R based.

On 'the other forum' he says something along the lines of they've been able to read it's contents and modify the data on the ECU, that's the easy part. But the ECU won't accept the modified data and won't function when reassembled and put back in the car.

Interesting thought. I'd give it a go but, cables and such.

My tuner tried to read mine with his evo stuff & didnt work
Was he able to get a rom read but no values, or no read at all? Would like to get ahold of a 380 rom file.

jeeze ,you wonder why MMAL were so anal about the 380 ECU and locking it up so much, not as if it is an Evo ,and every man and his dog will try and crack and modify it...its only a 380....

Wonder if he was actually trying ecuflash or something specific like ecutek...
Would love to try ECUFlash + Openport 2.0 to try it out...

Complete waste of time (apart from the fact I'm sure its already been tried), as ECUFlash doesn't support any BOSCH ECUs at all (not even any other ECUs using the same chip family, which is completely different to any chip used by any other Mitsubishi or Subaru ECU).

This guy here:
http://www.andywhittaker.com/en-gb/ecufix.aspx
Has a program which does all the checksums on a Bosch ECU to confirm if it will work. His program won't currently read the 380 ROM because he has to update the software log to include this software version.
Once he does that, might be an easy way for the check sums to be corrected and the flashed ECU to be accepted.
Have passed this information onto Blackstar, waiting to hear back.

Somone involved in this appears to have the social skills & ineptitude of someone who was abused as a kid, so I'll be following it up on my own :facejump:
Still waiting to hear from the checksum guy, but have made another acquaintence who seems to think he might have access to some software which essentially a reverse engineering of the Bosch Motronic system. This software also does reading and writing of the ECU EEPROM via the OBDII port in the car, so hopefully if he can get access to the software we might be able to look at adjusting the mixture and timing maps among other things without any physical work on the ECU.
I'll keep you all posted.

This is exactly what I have been telling people for sometime now lol, glad you have had the same experience and was not just me, be careful as his superior money and knowledge will now be all over the net telling lies about you now lol

If you are after a few spare ECU's drop me a line, I usually have 10+ ECU's here at any one time, I dont mind killing a couple for a good cause

Fairly useless if you can't modify values then write it back in though.

No worries Mal. If we manage to get to that stage, I might just take you up on the offer!
