Ok, so I have done an awesome job fitting some new Navra driving lights and they work (almost) perfectly, for the life of me I can't figure out why the friggin relay wont switch them on/off. I did the right thing and purchase the service manual and studied the circuit diagram and located what I believed to be the correct wire for the high beam, however they (the D/Ls) are always on, regardless of the state of the standard lights. I tested the wire in question and it is always 'on' which is why the relay is not switching (off). I though I might have the wrong wire but when I remove the associated fuse and the high beam doesnt work (which is the expected result). For those of you who know what I'm talking about, I'm connecting to the yellow / red wire for the LHS high beam. Is there something I'm missing here? And yes I have them connect to an isolation switch.
I've searched the forums but have not been able to located the info I need. If there is such a thread, can someone please send me the link.
thanks heaps
B

I would put those lights in a separate circuit controlled by a relay that's energized when you have high beam on. Sounds like you spliced into the circuit before the switch and not after it.
What's a D/L?
Post a screen dump of the workshop manual circuit diagram of where you have added in the relay for your new lights.

thanks for the reply bud.
D/L = Driving Lights
they do have their own circuit with a relay, however from what I can diagnose the wire I have tapped into is always on. so i may have tapped the wrong wire me thinks. I'll scan the diagram during the week (going for a drive with my 'other' car club tomorrow) and post it. I'll be mighty embarrassed if I've got this one wrong.

Remember that magna are mostly switching negative wires, so they go against the grain of wiring normal circuit :) So that wire you tap to is a positive wire therefore always on :D

You need to switch them from the negative on the high beam (inner) lights as they are negative switched.

pardon my ignorance but why would mitsubishi use negative switching?

Dunno they just do, but only thing I can think is the car is negative charge. So it easier to switch negative than postive plus uit a cable rubs and make contact it ain't going catch alite, all it would do is just turn on the wire it cut :) So mainly for safety sake :D
