Hey guys..

I've just replaced suspension in the my TJ Wagon to get it ready for towing my boat but i'm looking to do a 380 brake upgrade as well before I do..

My question is..

What parts do I require to do a 380 brake swap so it fits straight to the car??

1. 380 Calipers?
2. 380 Brake lines? Is it just the hose that runs from the caliper?
3. 380 Rotors?
4. 380 Brake pads?
5. Brake fluid? What's the best fluid?

Do I need any different bolts or do i just use the ones on magna's brakes?

Cheers..

As maggie said get all of the above.
As for fluid, I use castrol stuff but its recommended to either go with a really high end brand or genuine OEM stuff, as its on a vital part of your car

If the pads and rotors from the donor car are in good condition, there's no reason not to use them, but if they're not, DBA rotors are relatively cheap, and QFM HPX or Bendix General CT pads are good for street use.

Just put on a set of TL Vrx 17" rims on when I did the suspension.

I was looking at put on a set standard DBA rotors but is there any reason to go to the 4000 series?

Going to match them with a set of Bendix Ultimate pads..

Just to let you know, the Bendix GCT's are pretty ordinary, OK around town, but not for Towing, twisties. Get a High temp Pad instead. 500 Deg Vs 700 Deg.

I have the GCT's on 380 Rotors and will upgrade those pads at the first opportunity I get.

Dont forget the Tranny cooler for towing too.

good pad,but be warned.........especially on those Silver VRX wheels, they are VERY dusty and dirty pads.

I had the Ultimates on my set up for a while and was very glad to be rid of them

Use the QFM, I have put mine thorugh hell and they are great.

I tend to use the caliper bolts from the 380, also use a smidge of lock tight on them as well for insurance lol

Like Mal said, opt for the QFM, or IMO, Bendix HD pads. I use Bendix HD on my Evo and they're pretty awesome. Great cold bite, and they work even better when warm. They can be noisy at times, but rarely, and they don't create a lot of dust either.

Get the DBA 4000 series if you can afford them. The difference is that RDA and DBA standard stuff is all made in a little factory in China. The 4000/5000 series are made right here in Australia and are of much higher quality.

Here in Adelaide, Eddy wreckers quoted me about $35 ea. for 380 steel rims, which might be a cheap way to get suitable rims, and it would be worth asking Mal for a price.
