So ,for my next mod,im thinking of using up my excess stock of H.I.D kits ,and put a set in the reverse lights....
WTF lol you may ask....well.....we live in a really dark area and light is very minimal ,so,not wanting to put a wanky little spot light at the rear ,i thought, meh, why not...
wiring is simple enough....got the amp in the boot ,so that takes care of the constant power...all the other wires are simple and are there.
Now ,the question is....
as you know with an auto ,you naturally have to go past reverse to get to drive, and that period that the reverse circuit is on ,is so brief ,its not funny ,
now ,im wanting to avoid those "spiking " and lighting of the HID circuit for that brief milli second,so ...
I need a timer switch that has a 2-3-4-5 second delay in it before it sends the juice to the relay.
thoughts...pointers....
cheers
HID rear lights, it was only a matter of time...
Timer im not sure about, but I'd be annoyed if I copped a facefull of HID as you switched between park and drive in front of me at a petrol station lineup. You could wire them up on a seperate switch circuit and just leave the normal reverse light loop in with LED's in the reflector, so it would show a white light when reversing and illuminate behind you properly whenever you flicked the switch? Also be good for when people are behind you with high beam on constantly.

Seriously, how long would they blink for,the time would be so short that they wouldnt even have time to heat up or flash, let alone give some one a face full,im wanting a timer to stop that instant switching on/off as you go through the gate.

That interior time delay kit wont be able to handle the load current of HIDs
That interior time delay kit wont be able to handle the load current of HIDs
Can it handle enough power to turn on a relay to turn on the HIDs?

what load ??? Its not going to handle any thing for more than 30-90 seconds...
Can it handle enough power to turn on a relay to turn on the HIDs?
Im thinking of installing the timer in this order............. reverse light power line out>timer relay >relay>hid

may not be able to set the timer short and quick enough...i only need a a second or two delay.....enough to stop that instant flashing of current to the hid...
