After the magnificent run i have had with my 3rd gen, i am considering buying another one for the missus. She is happy about this EXCEPT that the seat is too low for her.
Is there any way of raising the drivers seat for her. This would be permanent and must be legal for insurance purposes. Any thought, advice or guidance would be appreciated.

you should be able to raise it via the controls on the right hand side of the seat

Yes you can but the amount it raises the seat is still not enough. They are quite low but i like that feel. The missus is quite short in the body hence needing to raise the height or we will have to look at something else which i dont want to do.

Phone books/ a booster seat? Failing that may need to add spacers between seat rail and seat. Or look at the wreckers and see if the pajero seat will be higher and mount to the third gen seat mounts.

I'd reckon trace the shape of the front seat squab on some paper, then go to Clark Rubber and get them to cut some upholstery foam to that size - to a thickness you desire. You could then fit a seat cover to retain it in position. They have foam that is very firm. I had an old Jaguar with sagged seats which I fixed by this method. This method would be legal I'd imagine.

The magna seat is definately lower than most cars!! When I drive my dads commo, my head is like 4 inches from the roof, when I drive the magna my head is like 8inches! (These are just rough estimates)
My mates used to laugh because I had to use a cushion in my magna when I was learning to drive as I could hardly see over the dash, they didnt reaslise how low my seat was (At max height) until they got in and compared to their cars.....Lucky ive grown since and dont need the cushion anymore lolz

I wish the seat was lower in the TR as I don't have any head room left :(

The only way I can see this being legal is a custom made and engineer certified seat rail. Or a higher Mitsubishi OEM seat that is a direct bolt in.

Or just a cushion? Has worked many times in the past!

Thanks to all for your thoughts. Sparky, i will check out the Pajero rails and see if there is any difference. Might be a good option. I don't want to go down the line of getting something engineered. Would probably cost a fortune. Spacers and high tensile bolts might be an option although not sure how you would go legally. Cushion is definately not the preferred option.
Keep all your thoughts coming as i would really love to buy her a 3rd gen.
