Sorry in advance if this topic has already come up, i tried a quick search but no luck.

Has anyone lowered their 380 sx/vrx/gt on the stock 17s? If so, what springs did you use, what level did you go etc? Any pics?

Im not wanting to spend big money on rims, but after a bit more appeal on looks, and with a lower centre of gravity, it should also handle better.

Before I changed to 19's I fitted Kings lows allround.
Car handled and looked so much better.

Covered in plenty of other threads, but the consensus is Kings lows on the rear & Kings superlows on the front.

I have this combo on 17s and it works a treat.

Good for looks and handling, reasonably compliant ride, and a more even stance than lows or superlows all round. AFAIK Kings don't do superlows in 380 rears anyway, and if they did you would risk clearance hassles.

Superlows on the front of a 3rd gen can cause problems with harshness and bashing up against the bump stops, but no such problems on a 380 in my experience. I've had mine on for over 70,000k now on 17s, 18s, 19s & 20s, now back to 17s, and no hassles even with the big and relatively hard riding 20s on.

But if you have to regularly negotiate steep driveways & gutters you might be better off with just lows on the front.

Another alternative is Dobinsons from Mal, apparently a slightly better ride than Kings, but I think they only come in lows not superlows.

Maybe the front spoiler on the GT is different but I couldnt go lower as I have already caught it on driveways a few times
You can see ride height in my avatar

Yeah definately won't scrape except perhaps extreme angles (like ramp bottoms, sharp crests, tall curved-driveway gutters, etc). Looks nice when lowered, but hardly looks slammed. If you want the slammed look, go coilovers like Foozrcool (but that's a different story & thread).

Ahh yeh true kiffo. Hmm not keen on the slammed vt commo look.
Will look into it soon, but now since someone hit my bonnet and put a nice dent in it, and a stock rim comes back scratched to the shit after i got tyres fitted, this seems less likely to happen any time soon :( :@
Just when you have a little cash to spend, something always gets in the way :(
