Hi Everyone,
The other night I had a flat battery; got the NRMA to jump it and the guy said it was an old battery and would need replacing. Driving it home i couldn't hold the revs; and the next day got it replaced.
When the NRMA changed the battery, there can up on my dash display "5" and a figure that looked like "LJ" when i press the mode button. He said that would go away after driving. It has not. And i am now idling around the 500rpm mark as opposed to the average 1000 i think it normally does...
And after a few minutes of playing my stereo it is now asking for a code. have to find that out... didnt get it with my paperwork when i bought it i just realized. fun times.
if anyone knows how i can get my baby running smooth all help will be greatly appreciated.

5 is an S meaning sedan
LJ is a W meaning wagon
press mode button to what you have then press and hold mode till it beeps
Then will come up with
3.0 or 3.5 for engine capacity, choose with mode button then press and hold till it beeps.
Your change of battery also reset your tranny ecu, so it needs to relearn your driving style again.
As for the radio, ring mitsu service and give them the VIN and they should supply the code for you.

Trip puter:
Short pulse on mode switch: swaps between "S" and "W" for sedan and wagon, long pulse to lock in.
Next "3" and "3.5" for engine size.
Radio: Take VIN to Mitsu dealer who will look up radio code.
Need to go through this every time the battery is disconnected.
EDIT: DAMN! beaten to it!
Also notice the trip computer will only count up to 19 hours and 59 minutes, it will reset itself while beeping loudly. Can be distracting if not expecting it. lol

A dealer should be able to hook you up with a code. hopefully free of charge too...
Once the battery has been disconnected you need to set the car type... the "LJ" is supposed to be a W and means Wagon. S means sedan.
There is an auto relear procedure around somewhere to get smooth changes.
The trick i use to get the idle right is disconnect battery for 10mins,
Start and let it idle in Park(or neutral) aircon off for 2 mins (once operating temp has been reached)
Idle Park aricon on 2 mins
and if its auto, Drive and let it idle 2 mins with aircon off
Drive and let it idle 2 mins aircon on
I reccomend disconecting battery and starting again and make sure you select the right vehicle type (S or W), it is only for the trip computer though and has no other effect
Edit:woo for being way slow

so does that mean as i drive move the revs should balance out again? or is the low rev another issue i will need looked at?

Comes good by itself. I have disconnected the battery a number of times and never bothered to relearn idle/gear changes.
