Hey guys,

I'm having a small (or big?) problem that developed today with my throttle and the carby... when you have to take off from 0km/h, theres a huge flat spot in the accelerator and it either:
A) stalls
B) engine speed almost to nothing and then picks up speed

Also once your off (if you can get it to go without stalling), it is really gutless and the ECO light comes on more so than usual...

When the motor is out of gear and you slowly press the accelerator, you can feel the motor not run well at a certian point then it runs fine (after that point)

I took the airfilter off and checked the accelerator pump... that's working fine

Also for i while before any of these problems came about, i could hear a hissing from behind the carby, but thats not there anymore (looked but couldn't see any vacuum hole disconnected... and my Fuel economy is shocking (<360 on a full tank)

What could this be and what can cause this?

btw, as it says in my signature - it's a TM Carby Auto - leaded model but i'm running unleaded... the motor is new (with unleaded head) and the trans only got rebuilt 1-2 weeks ago - problem after problem with this car:rant:

Thanks,
Bill

I had a similar problem with my Cortina, years ago. Could be on the wrong track but the symptoms were the same. Difficult to get going and shocking fuel economy. I found out what the problem was when my car caught fire. Apparently one of my fuel hoses around the carby had developed a leak.
It was only after this that everyone started telling me, "Yeah, they're always catching fire".
Why didn't anyone tell me before hand?
Anyway, it might be worth a look.
