So i noticed alot of people have got a hard flooring in the boot of their cars for their gear to sit on. It looks neat and its also better then the uneven base of the original boot.
My question is where did those who have done that get their bases. Did you make them yourself? Do you have any of the dimensions? Are their people who make them specifically?
Any help much appreciated.

I made my own, if you have basic knowledge of carpentry, this is possible.
I'm in 2 minds about a redisign of my boot lol

I cut mine out from MDF from Bunnings. I used the original boot carpet as an outline lol The original spare wheel cover was used too to make a cut-out for the spare wheel.

I made my floor with my friend + his uncle who is a complete woodworker for years, I got the basic structure of understanding from past years of doing hands on work and teaching, but he mainly has the tools + many more years experience.
Basically if you wanted to do it yourself, you will need to sort out the shape of your floor, I did this by using the previous floor carpet that comes with the car by tracing around that and making sure those are the dimensions I want double checking with the car, that covers the shape of your floor. I don't know about the 3rd gen magna's, but the 2nd gen the floor is not complete flat, the front is higher than the back end, so what I did was I got the depth difference from the back to the front. Then had to make a wood stand at the back to hold the floor up level (mind you it will not always be 100% level, it depends on your suspension wear and the ground you are sitting on if that is level or not, but you will get it very close), it would sit like [ shape with supports on both side, and mind you the right might be lower/higher than the left side.
When your floor is cut out and you believe that is what you want, make sure you go and test it and see if it fits in your car and if it doesn't, well then make the changes you need to do to it then to make it work, you may need to cut off the sides and put them into the car separate, every time you do a step, test to see if it works.
At this stage, you want to measure out your location and dimensions of your spare wheel and the room you will need as you need to take out a center board to access that upon emergency, you will need to put some wood beams underneath your floor as well to sit your center board on, remember to leave extra room around the edges of the center board for the final carpet to be placed on all the pieces of the floor.
After we did all of that, we then varnished it all and let it dry so it had some extra protection to last longer and stay strong, may not be needed though. After that was all dry and ready for carpeting, I then got spray on glue and slowly laid out the carpet over the designated area's, and shaped around the edges and stapled down to hold secure. The floor was then made sure all is satisfactory and placed together and then admired before all my sound gear was replaced in again and set up so it was secure :P.
If you are putting in gear to stay in your boot, make sure the stuff you place in the boot and stays there does not obscure the center board that needs to be taken out to take out the spare wheel, as if you do not, and you need to take out your spare wheel, you may find some problems. I can upload some pictures and explain more later if you want, just let me know.

Thanks dragonking for that "quick" outline =).
I'm definately looking to do something just like that! So if its not to much trouble i'd love some photos and extra info. Including what sort of wood you used etc.
Also what sort of carpet did you use? Or did you get fresh carpet. Which is what i'd like to do since the original carpet is dirty and scrungey.
Is it worth my time buying some of that molding foam? (The foam blocks you can get and shape yourself)...

MDF is fine wood to use for just about any type of job you want, 12mm type of ply is also fine, but you can't go past MDF.
Carpet wise, I got carpet from bunnings that matched colour best to the carpet I had previously to my boot, just took in the floor mat into bunnings and found what matched best as that carpet was around the same colour to the side walls, which stayed in the car, basically all new carpet for the floor I made :)
I do not see why you would want molding foam, is this to find the shape of your boot? If that is the case, just use your previous carpet as a outline measurement and trace around that as that is what made to fit the shape of your boot.
I will upload some pictures tommorow morning as it's a bit dark outside at the moment and my boot is a bit full of bits and pieces at the moment as I am currently not at my home with the pictures on the computer :P

Personally, if i was doing this, i would probably make up a small slimline sub to fit in the space left from the spare at the same time and have a clean, stealth looking install.
That's just me, though.
