Hi all - just wondering if others are in the same boat as me.
Rang the local Mitsubishi dealer looking for a replacement seatbelt assembly (Left hand rear) for my
2003 TJII AWD only to be told that there is none in stock anywhere in the country and they are no longer manufactured.
Has anyone else hit this problem with Mitsubishi? What did you do?
** problem with the seatbelt is that the inertia reel part is not releasing or retracting - this means if the car was inspected for a roadworthy it would fail.
Just go aftermarket. Plenty of places do seatbelt replacement like Wiltshier here in SA.

They don't show the rear seat belts, only as an OE part.
So the answer here is a wreckers. Mits-Fix would be a good place to start. or the guy on e-bay out St Marys way in NSW. - Triton-71.
Otherwise, how about a Diamante seat belt from the USA. I looked on the Rockauto site - they do not appear to do seat belts
Don't forget that this will be a common part across all 3rd gen Magnas.
I would also remove the C pillar cover and have a look. It may be that the webbing is catching on the felt sound insulation that is roughly glued to the back of the plastic cover.
Gerry.
I had a rear centre lap-sash seat belt installed into my old KS by Willshiers (http://www.willshire.com.au/seatbelts_klippan.htm) here in Adelaide. I am sure other auto trimmers can do it as well.

Sorry to all - been out of country for a while.
From what I can gather the seatbelt in question (rear passenger i.e. left hand) has it's own part number "MR925115" and parts guys from 2 dealerships cannot get a replacement. I have spoken to Mitsubishi Australia directly and they have checked with the dealerships and the internal parts guys and the answer was sorry can't help Klippan do a replacement. Basically they don't have an answer or care for that matter.
I have tried APV (Klippan) and they cannot help.
I have tried Seatbelt Solutions in Perth - they have supplied an aftermarket reel with a mounting designed to fit the recess - however this hasn't worked - they probably would get a solution if they had the car to work on however I am in Maitland NSW and they are in Perth.
SO...if anyone is wrecking a TJII AWD maybe even a KJ Verada and have the seatbelt in question please contact me. I would prefer a black webbing with light grey trim however to at least get a seatbelt in place would be a good thing.

sorry to dig up an old thread, how did you get on with this? I have spent 6months waiting for willshire in adelaide to get me a seatbelt in. proceeded to do so, to discover it was the wrong one, and wont work with 'air bag cars'. they have no solution.
rang Mitisbishi, they don't care, said it is no longer being made. Only thing I have come up with is to send all parts over to Perth to have it re webbed. The actual assembly is fine just the belt itself is majorly frayed
Did you come up with anything? (front drivers seatbelt of course...)
thanks

Mitsubishi dealers purchase used belts off us on a regular basis. The belt you have is the pre tensioned belt and needs to be replaced with the same sort of belt (I assume you have a TL or TW)
The TL and TW belts as far as I know are still available however these do cost a lot of $$ and most will just replace with a used belt. Other option is re webbing, not sure on the cost of doing this though

Lot of TJs going around with frayed driver's belt webbing, including mine. Policeman who did the full inspection on the car 2 years ago said I should really replace it. Guess I will be looking for someone who can redo the webbing.
Do wreckers normally sell belts? Wouldn't take one out of a car with accident damage though.
Mine is a little frayed at the edge just where my belt buckle (of my pants) is. I have seen frayed seatbelts where the pants belt buckle is lots of times and not just on Mitsus.
