View Full Version : Central Locking going nuts
Hey guys, for ages the cars central locking has been acted wierd.
It doesnt happen all the time, probably about 40% of the time, but when i open the doors with the keyless entry the doors unlock and lock really quickly before I can get in lol. I wonder if anybody has had the same problem and if so what it is and how to fix it? Thanks in advance :)

Try to change the battery on the remote, and then reprogram the remote. Should work

It may also be the lock switch in the driver door actuator when they get worn out the central locking goes crazy lol you can try replacing the driver door actuator and it should fix it.

It will be the actuator.
There is an internal paddle that sweeps to and fro to contact lock and unlock microswitches.
There are rubber buffers at each end of the stroke.
One of the buffers has deteriotated.
Fix is another actuator.
Or, carefully take apart, remove remainder of buffer, and then find a suitable piece of rubber and glue in.

Ah saved!
This is happening to me also. I had my dog in the car the other day and it happened when the windows were up when paying for fuel at the servo, so a quick trip home to grab the spare keys and all was good. I just took the fuse out so it wouldn't happen again.
Glad the above post are of some help. I'll get onto tit in the morning :)

Um, where is this actuator located? In the drivers door?
Cheers:)

There are actuators in each door close to the latch mechanism on the trailing edge of each door.
If you don't want to pull the actuator apart, then talk to Mal at Mits-fix as he usually has several good ones from the car that he is dismantling.
To do yourself a selection of screwdrivers, long nose pliers and care removing and replacing the nylon clips on the ends of the various door lock rods.
Reason I say care is that if your car has been dry for some time, the nylon clips lose moisture and can break rather easily..

Thanks a lot guys :), I will see what I can do, it usually happens when it has been raining though, because theres always droplets on the scuff plates of the driver and passenger doors, so maybe a connection. Your help is much appreciated :)

It can also happen if your battery is getting old, god knows why, but when it was happening on my old car I changed the battery and it stopped
