Looking to upgrade to a cd player with USB as I'm sick of having to recharge my mp3 player. I've narrowed it down to these 3, I currently have a Pioneer and I have no problems with it, but wanna what you all think.
Alpine CDE-100EUB (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Alpine-CDE-100EUB-CD-MP3-WMA-USB-Aux-Car-Stereo-/320642776395?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item4aa7cc7d4b)
Pioneer DEH-3350UB (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Pioneer-DEH-3350UB-CD-MP3-iPod-USB-AUX-IN-Car-Stereo-/230621305801?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item35b219dbc9)
Philips CEM220 (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Philips-CEM220-Car-Player-CD-MP3-USB-SD-Aux-Stereo-/200543078416?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2eb14c8810)
Thoughts?

The Philips does the iPod 'straight from Aux In' - I doubt that you could control and recharge the iPod through the headunit (like you can do with higher-end headunits), which puts the Philips on par with the other models.
I only had a quick squiz at them, but if you're just running a stock stereo and just want USB playback, it looks like any one of them would be a solid choice.
I'm not very up to date with current car audio, but from what I've heard, Alpine is great for quality, but stings you with every little cable and bit being an optional extra.
Pioneer used to be good but are now the low end for quality in the name brands. (heresay, I know)
Philips ???? Aren't they the $20 Tape/AM/FM radios you can buy at Supercheap Auto? Yes, the last time I heard of Philips in car audio was before the car CD player existed! :)
But the Philips model looks nice at least, and the price on all of them looks very good.
How old are those models? The Alpine style looks pretty old to me.

Alpine for quality and reliability but more cost
Phillips for no reason at all
Pioneer for cheap mainstream stuff but cheaper features
Pick one? :)

Yeah I didn't know Philips made aftermarket head units until I saw this, but it looks awesome i reckon. Upon looking further into it I'm leaning towards the Philips and the Alpine. The Philips has a better display (i like the way it shows the song and artist) and even has an SD card slot, but sound quality is the first priority. So when it comes to sound quality, is the Alpine gonna be better to play songs up full bore, or won't there be any difference? I don't have any amps or subs, just Sony Xplods in the front and Alpines in the rear.
I'd go with the higher model Pioneer. I have one in my car and couldn't be happier with it.

That looks like a nice find Life. Any idea what the RMS rating is? I found the Alpine is 18watts rms and the Philips is 24watts rms, which I find surprising. Wouldn't this mean that the Philips would produce a better max sound?
Not sure, if you're upgrading the head unit looking to increase sound quality/volume - forget it, aftermarket speakers+amp is required ;) The above model also has 4V preouts, this will help when you do take that route.

For sound quality there is no choice mate. It is alpine or eclipse or even the pioneer p series of head units. But for sound quality alpine
I use alpine processor, alpine double din and nothing else lol
There is a reason the top SQ competitiors use alpine for their head unit of choice. The amount of tuning features are astonding but im sure about that model as far as features go

The Pioneer has more features than the Alpine (1 extra set of RCA - 2 instead of 1), and the Philips is better again (3 RCA outs - good for a 4 channel amp plus a mono or 2 for a sub), and has more present equalisation options. The Philips is the best looking of the bunch, but I've never liked the Alpine look. I'd buy the Philips since you get more for your money (and it is only slightly more expensive than the other 2).

Had a closer look at the Philips, and the ebay lister is mistaken - only 1 set of RCA outs on this, not 3 as stated. So... slightly less appealing now.
Although it seems to have an extra sub out - so I'm guessing you can run a mono amp for a sub, plus a 2 channel for the front L/R. I'd still buy it over the Alpine... don't know about the Pioneer.

I would go the Pioneer as i had a Pioneer head unit in my Subaru and a few mates had similar Pioneer units in their cars and never had any trouble with them.
My next head unit will be Pioneer as i have found them good value for money

What are you going to be running of this? Are you going to be expanding the system to running amps?
Look im going to go another option for you.

JVC make good value for money equipment and this head unit has 2 pairs or pre outs meaning you can run either a 4 channel or a 2 channel and mono without splitting the rca's and degrading the audio signal. Most like headunits is has the 3-Band Parametric iEQ with is handy until you upgrade to an external amplifier., im also not sure if you are going to be wanting to use an Ipod for a source but this headunit also has Dual AUX-IN (Front/Rear) which is always handy.

Only running front and rears, no amps or subs (would like to eventually but might not happen). And would primarily be using a USB stick for music.

So I got this cd player Life, but the guy at Autobarn said there are no adapters for it yet, so apparently I have to join the wires to a Pajero connecter. Is this what you did?
