My battery is having a habit of dying so i think it's getting old... Hopefully it's the battery because i don't want to replace anything else.
I like to listen to music and run splits and 6x9s off an amp.
What is the best battery for running higher powered devices like the sound system for a few hours when i wash/ polish the car?
Cheers guys.

I use optima D34 for all my comp setups. they are capable of amazing things. I have no been able to flatten it yet after HOURS of 3000+ RMS
Pricey but worth every dollar

Autobarn has them as does battery world etc
You are looking at a minimum of $300 for one :)

Oh well i could hire a woman for a night for that money, no deal haha. You couldn't reccomend any lower priced batteries. Maybe a regular battery just with a little improvment to be longer lasting?

The supercharged gold batteries are best bang for buck TBH if you cant afford a optima
Had one before I got my bluetop and lasted well over 3 years
Costs about 150 bucks or so

lol shows you havent brought a battery lately?
These days you get what you paid for really
But supercharged gold's are the way to go for cheaper batteries
About 4 months ago I bought a SuperCharge MF50 battery for $147.....it has a CCA of 600amps which is pretty good as it gives you plenty of reserve amps. Optima are certainly a better battery but you need to justify the more than double cost. Plus the cheaper SuperCharge has a 3 year warranty which is the same as the much more expensive Optima

I just get the $130 century, 580CCA from memory, buy from autobarn with a 3 year replacement warranty. I've got about 1500wrms running through that and haven't had any issues. Mind you at the drive in (4 hours of movie) i don't have the stereo running at that kind of power, would be a tad annoying LOL.

Also remember the meanings for batterys in the types. The cheaper ones focus on CCA (cold crank amps) and has nothing to do with auxuliary loads. Optimas and other true deep cycles have a CCA of around 800 but also 75 - 100 AH (amp hours) which is the capacity pretty much. Choose a battery with around 500 cca and plenty of AH

I had a yellow top D34 go bad after 6 months use which resulted in a flat battery and it never recovered.I have a new one now which seems to be doing well 4 months in so fingers crossed.

Damnn, unlucky!
Well Ive had my D34 for a few months and its still going strong! I def recommend it if you have a decent car audio system, or like to run things for long periods of time while the car is off!

I found the battery that was in the car was a supercharge Gold and i'm looking up now to see how old it was.

It is only 14 months old, very unimpressed with the battery. The reason it went flat was the readings lights on the roof were on overnight. IMO these 2 small lights shouldn't drain a 1 year old battery after just 12 hours.

Shouldn't do, but you'd be surprised. Brake lights that stay on or interior light on over night because someone didn't shut a door, flattens a battery overnight, in my experience. But doesn't the BEM in the third gen turn off those lights after a certain time period? I know it does if you leave the boot open, boot light goes off by itself.

The CCA and Amp-Hour rating of a battery only really applies to a new one, as a battery ages both go down. When I suspect a battery is getting near its end of life, I leave the headlights on full for 10 minutes, then try to start the car. If it doesn't crank, a new battery is called for. After a 12 hour charge on a battery charger, of course. A simple test to avoid being stranded at the shops when the battery finally gets too weak to crank the engine and fire it up.
My 440 CCA $120 battery is not quite 1 year old and passes this test easily - at the moment.

OK so after all this BS, i rang 10 stores trying to find one that deal with supercharge batteries, found one in goulburn prepared to replace it for no cost if they couldn't charge it.
Went out to my dads tractor and popped the battery on charge to make sure it's dead and it started charging.... GOD DAMIT.
How long it it going to take to charge? Why the hell did it not charge last night but it does now? :/

yeah man there is clearly something wrong with mine... My dad left the glovebox of his statesman open for a few weeks and it didn't kill the battery. Then again he left it on for 3 weeks and it did... haha

I have an idea, dangerous but will work. Drain the battery of all the acid then charge it while its empty for a few hours. No more then that though. Won't charge for them then i guarantee it lol
That could be the problem aswell! Have you checked the fluids in the battery to make sure they are full??

I agree i have been using supercharge for years now in both cars and getting 5 years + well worth the money

I didn't think it was one that needed topped up, i'll check it though. How long does a battery take on a charger?
The gold Supercharge is rated at 105 amps....so if you charger puts out 5 amps it will take 21 hours to fully charge it...allow 24 hours for luck.
