Hi, I am a bit of a webpage designer and I was wondering if people would fancy and participate in a 2nd gen dedicated website, photo gallery and forum...

What would people like for an web address?

2ndgenmagna.***.**
2ndgen.***.**
trmagna.***.**

.***.** = .com.au/.net.au or others similar

give suggestions about the web address too...

Sounds cool, I'd be in it!

I'd say 2ndgenmagna.***.** for the name because it's better than the other two.

Keep us informed.

I like 'gen2magna' or '2ndgenmagna'.

what about 'trtsmagna' or 'magna2' or '2gmagna' or 'magna2g' or 'magna2gen'
or even 'magna2diamante1' to pick up the Japanese & US markets ?
(not sure, I think I like the first 2 better anyway)

At first I thought - no, not another forum I have to look at but then I rethought about it and it would also mean I wouldn't need to sort thru all the 1st and 3rd gen posts.
But then again, I'll probably still check the other forums anyway because they do have 2nd gen specifc sections - oh just put me "on the fence" and I'll go with the flo.

lol thanks GRDPuck, they're actually a real band called Killbilly! How cool is that!?
Here's an mp3 I hunted down: http://home.swiftdsl.com.au/~baker/killbilly-darlinggirl.mp3 (right click, save as...)

I think with the gen2 site a forum would be a bit of a waste of time, instead, jam it full of tech articles, reviews on mods, feature cars etc.

Remember I've got the Mitsu Service manuals for the 2nd gen (actually TR/KR only) so if you need anything scanned or typed out...ask away.

Hell Im in, I love this place but there is a strong 3rd gen flow to the place, would be good to have a home of our own.

I'll help where I can, would love to get things like places to buy mods, how to install mods ect on the site as well cause Im having real trouble finding bits.

i've had a few technical experiences with my magna as well, so together we could make a pretty cool FAQ section.

Hey do you recon you could scan off the service manual for me?.. If you got time and can be bothered :D

Its probably a bit much to do just for me, so why dont you scan the whole thing, put it in a PDF file, and post a link for it.. and make it a sticky thread? For everyone to use..

just an idea..

Not the whole book!

Grab a phone book, now grab 2. You now have an idea of the size of the service manuals I have. :P

lol i have the perfect idea, each week have a poll, 5 things in the poll, and people chose what part of the manual they want uploaded, then at the end of each week the winning item gets uploaded, brings people back to the site on a weekly basis :).

Killbilly
25-07-2004, 02:52 PM
Well I can scan wiring diagrams and stuff like that...They're the most commonly asked for things.

I also have the Haynes manual, so I can scan parts of that too...so long as we mention who it's from it's fine AFAIK, since we're not making any commercial gain on it.

i have access to a photocopier/scanner thing at work, and also a scanner with an auto feeder, is the service manual an actual book or do the pages come out? :D

im also keen for a 2nd gen site, also keen to help out with hosting, webpages, etc if needed, i have a couple servers at my place that would be up to the job. at least to start with.

Not KS, only TR/KR unfortunately. It was made in 1993 I think.

I'm not sure what i could do to help though...

I do have a Haynes manual for the TR/S. Although its not the best manual, it might be handy for info anyway.

It would be good to see a dedicated 2nd generation magna website.. I am new to this forum but it has been a great source of info. I am not sure if I can offer anything that is of help but I run a web and multimedia company and we also have 2 or 3 webservers, so I can probably organize free hosting for the website... and help with any design or techical programming that may be needed...

LOL i kinda got sidetracked and forgot all about this site. I was working on one but it was a crappy html site, i now have CERT IV in programming and can program in ASP, if your server supports ASP and you are willing to help out i could write up the pages pretty quickly (ASP owns html). Currently doing my diploma in software development so my skills are only gonna get better. So basically all i need is a server that can support ASP and i you'd have a killer website for the 2nd gens. I have quite a few things to add along the lines of fixing stuff and Madmagna is a living encyclopedia :P.

Hi TR-Envy, no problems our webservers support ASP, PHP and ColdFusion with both mySQL and MSSQL databases... let me know when you are ready and I can setup an FTP account for you so that we can get the ball rolling

KB: could you scan the electrical section about the doorlocking system, which will show me which wires to use for a remote box connection?

That'd be cool!

Btw a good tip for your book: go to a printers shop and ask them to cut away the spine of the books, then youll have all loose pages (dont drop now ) which are perfect for scanning with an autofeed scanner. After scanning you can have them bound with a wire spine, which is also much more convenient, for you can flip over the whole thing and it stays open.

Best regards from Austria

PS: I've got such a scanner at work. It scans automatically, doublesided and converts the scans into PDF, all in one go. Would be happy to help out scanning. Guess it would be an hours work for the two "phone books".
