Rocker cover gaskets i think.

Did you mean PCV valve?

pvc = polyvinyl chloride, a type of plastic.
pcv = positive crankcase ventilation.

Minor difference. lol

A blocked PCV valve can cause the crankcase to build up positive pressure, which can cause oil leaks past numerous gaskets, as well as pop some oil seals out of their normal place. All of these seals are hard to get to to fix them once they pop out, so its a really good idea to ensure the PCV system sucks well and you have a negative pressure in the crankcase.

On the second gen V6 you often get oil seeping out past the oil filler cap seal, this is a definite sign the PCV valve, the hoses, and the baffles in the rocker covers need cleaning, rather than the seal on the cap needing to be replaced.

The stuff that builds up is carbon and oil sludge, its not s^^t as you put it. Cleans up with petrol or carb cleaner, but might need physical force with stiff wire to remove build up in the two spigots on the valve covers and the baffles inside the valve covers.
